The music of Wicked Aura can be described as very heavily percussive, polyrhythmic, world, pop, funk and rock music, with vocal stylings that vary from track to track. It might be a tad bit hard to digest but this is one band that really unashamedly wear their influences on their sleeves and do them all.
In their 6 year journey, the band have managed to mix genres and straddle both the mainstream pop/rock markets AND world music factions, having played festivals as diverse as WOMAD, GOOD VIBRATIONS, DRUM FESTIVALS and Gilles Peterson's WORLDWIDE FESTIVAL.
The band's main influences are quite obvious with their armoury of Brazilian drums and percussions. And then there are the added ingredients such as guitars, bass, keys, electronics, vocals and amazing pop sensibilities.
The Wickedboys are many and so are their tastes in music. It is pointless to run through genres but it's safe to say that they're all very deeply infatuated with drums, rhythms and fat beats. There can be traces of old school funk, metal, traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythms, rap, reggae and drumnbass in Wicked Aura's music.
What sets Wicked Aura apart from other bands? The size is one. And definitely the sound. This band can rock out anywhere with just their arsenal of drums and voices, sans guitars or any other instruments.
