"Post-Punk with Sultry Sax"

Biography

‘Wicker Sunday’ were formed in 2008 from the far flung corners of Middle England, playing an infectious, effervescent cocktail of Post-Punk rock. Uniting Ben Liverman's chunky rock guitar and thought provoking lyrics with Rebecca Liverman's fearless and progressive saxophone breaks, Dave Coxon's driving, fretless bass and Eddie Hodgkinson's powerful, pounding drums to produce a band teeming with energy and catchy gems.

Drawing their influences from bands including ‘The Levellers’, ‘Alterbridge’, ‘The Cult’, ‘Blondie’, ‘The Who’, ‘X-Ray Spex’ and ‘Rage Against The Machine’, ‘Wicker Sunday’ burn brightly with their eclectic brand of Post-Punk rock.
The band share previous gigging experience from The Midlands, The Northwest and London, with appearances at The Cavern, The Roadmender, Carling Academies, Beautiful Days festival and Vanfest.

Having had the privilege of sharing the stage with ‘Sweet’, ‘Slade’, ‘The Levellers’, ‘The Stranglers’, ‘Sick On The Bus, ‘The Oysterband’ and ‘Trash Fashion’ the band are no strangers to the big stage.
Standout tracks include 'The Funny Thing Is’ and ‘The Father', both of which have recently been featured on BBC Radio’s ‘The Beat’. Look out for ‘Wicker Sunday’ - the best day of the week.

One Way Ticket

Written By: Ben Liverman

One way Ticket

I’ve been drinking in the Rotaway Town,
I’ve watched the river rise, I want to watch the rats drown,
I want a one way ticket out of here.
I made my way to the railway station,
And asked the clerk for a no return destination,
I want a One way ticket out of here.

Chorus. I know it’s the right thing to do,
Cos staying here’s like I door, I can’t get through,
Look to my future I’m going to attack,
Once I leave I’m never coming back.

The best thing the boneheads can muster,
Is a fight with a punch, kick and knuckle duster,
I want a One way ticket out of here.
They’re after my individuality,
Don’t want to be the next, Rotaway fatality,
I want a One way ticket out of here.

Middle Eight

I’ve got the petrol to make them learn,
I’ve got the matches, I’m going to watch their town burn,
I want a One way ticket out of here.
They seal their fate when they see the match light,
too late to turn and run, too late to stand and fight,
I want a One way ticket out of here.

Chorus

Death or Glory

Written By: Ben Liverman

Your heads shaking, your mouths dry,
Your bones are aching, when you fall from the sky.
You’ve got a feeling, got the taste,
are you believing, you can win this race?

Chorus: Hold your breath, DEATH OR GLORY
Heart skips a beat, DEATH OR GLORY
Lost if you draw, DEATH OR GLORY
You can’t take anymore, DEATH OR GLORY

The lights on your face, the world’s at your feet,
You quicken the pace, now do you feel the heat?
You’ve got a feeling, got the taste,
are you believing, you can win this race?

Chorus

The crowds jumping, there’s sweat in your eyes,
Your hearts thumping, the pressure runs high.
You’ve got a feeling, got the taste,
are you believing, you can win this race?

Slow break

Chorus

Rotaway Town

Written By: Ben Liverman

I need a new window, to look out of.
I need something new to, suck my time up,
But these people are dying the death. I don't wanna be next.

Chorus: I've got to leave this town,
I'm praying, somehow I will escape, before this town rots away.

Tin alley, tin head, cries of “your stereo’s best”.
And your only dream, is another one-way street to race in.
You think this town’s the edge of the world,
Why don’t you jump right now?

Chorus

Walking down the street like you own it,
What’s it like to own decay?
You don’t see this town is rotting,
It’s rot, rot, rotting away.
And you don’t see what I see, I don’t think you ever will.

Sax solo

Chorus

Decay

Anymore

Written By: B. Liverman

I don’t know you; I don’t know myself,
anymore, anymore, anymore.
I don’t know why there’s a tear in my eye,
when I’m all alone, all alone, all alone.

Chorus: I don’t know where my life’s supposed to go,
Or how it will all end,
All I know is my minds going round the bend,
Trying to work it all out.

Anymore, anymore I don’t know anymore, anymore.

So tell me where,
your commitment lies,
Is it by her,
or by an old friends side, old friends side, old friends side.

Chorus: I don’t know where my life’s supposed to go,
Or how it will all end,
All I know is my minds going round the bend,
Trying to work it all out.

Anymore, anymore I don’t know anymore, anymore.
