"...an impressive debut!"

Toledo Rock area vets, The Wide Awakes, have an impressive debut CD, [Satisfied?]. They pound away with a punk-laced Midwest rock fervor that's broken up with splashes of country here and there. "Said Too Much" and "You're Gonna Miss Me" are the rockingest of the bunch, but "Slowly I Turned" and "First Lonely Moment" each reach for the epic while keeping the backbeat percolating and the chords a-steady.

"Damn Good Songs!"

The band to see is The Wide Awakes, a rockin' pop group. ...They write and play damn good songs!

-Keith Bergman, the Toledo Free Press, June 2005 - The Toledo Free Press

"A Teacher's Worst Nightmare?"

Why do I get the impression that Toledoan Tim Bueter was a teacher's worst nightmare in high school? Could it be the rough, tongue-in-cheek feeling you get when you listen to The Wide Awakes, the band that Bueter writes and sings for? Whether it's true or not, the title of the band's new CD [Satisfied?] says a lot. The disc rocks with the best of them.

Bio

The Wide Awakes hail from Toledo, Ohio, a typical rust-belt city situated between the rock 'n' roll Meccas of Detroit and Cleveland. Add in years of experience, false starts, high hopes, triumphant successes, and the general kicks in the head that all rock 'n' rollers must endure, you come to the point where this band stands today. The music of The Wide Awakes, like the city that produced the band, lacks pretense. Instead, this group of musicians just goes to work delivering raucous but melodic rock that is straight from the gut and oblivious to outside perception or prevailing musical trends. Its reckless energy, heart-on-your-sleeve lyricism, and great big hooks comes from someplace real, someplace true and leave you wanting more.
