"Carribbean Party Fever"

Caribbean Party Fever erupted at the end of gastown when WIL CAMPA launched into another fast and festive numbers that pepered their set. Conga lines instantly appeared throughout Maple Tree Square and began weaving and swaying through the crowd of people, all on their feet cheering after almost two hours of Hot Cuban Dance Music and to finish the song with a Havana flourish. Genial Band leader Campa who has a sweet and powerful voice proved a relentless animator for the audience and musicians alike, prowling the stage with microphone in hand, breaking into dance moves and exhorting everyone to join in on the call and response songs, It felt like summer had finally arrived. - Alexander Varty and Tony Montague

Wil Campa BIO

 His voice will capture and embraces you, with an undeniable, engaging stage presence and herald as one Cubas leading artist Wil Campa represents the very best of Cuba Son. The music that lives in his soul!

 Wils childhood was spent in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, where he grew up amidst streets filled with joyful traditional Cuban music. Organizing, directing and presenting concerts to family and neighborhood friends from an early age inspired by Benny Moore, Miugelito Cuni and Arsenio Rodriquez. His ambition and love for music, dance and songwriting led him to study professional music at the acclaimed ESCUELA SUPERICION DE ARTE RAUL SANCHEZ in Cuba.

 From 1988 to 2004 Wil Campa performed with well know Orchestras Cumbre and later Maraca participating in the prestigious Aldofo Guzman Festival and many elite Jazz Festivals traveling to over 37 counties around the world.

 His charisma and the ability to move an audience has brought him to share the stage with the ranks of Winton Marsalis, Poncho Sanchez the Gran Combo, Natalie Cole, Michael Miller, Joe Lovano, Govani Hidalgo, Jimmy Bosh, Jose Alberto el Canario, Michael Franti. He also shared scenarios with highly reconized Cuban musicians Omara Portuondo and Ibrahim Ferrer with whom he shared the stage on his last concert at the Festival Marciac, France.

 Recording several albums with Cumbre and Maraca he is best recognized nationally and internationally for his Grammy Nominated contribution to the CD Tremenda Rumba in 2002.

 In 2005 Wil formed what is know today as one of Cuba elite groups WIL CAMPA Y SU ORQUESTA releasing two albums one on 2006 ES TIEMPO and 2011 TODO ES POSIBLE winning him a Nomination for BEST ALBUM 2012 at the CUBADISCO (Cubas equivalent of the Grammys).

WIL CAMPA Y SU ORCHESTRA have been touring extensively Nationally (eg. Havana Jazz Festival) and Internationally inspiring and introducing thousands of audiences to Cubas Musical Royalty. Wils vision, musical talent and chorographical direction have placed this Orchestra as one of the most exciting touring groups.

 A story that begins in the countryside of Cuba and has taken him all over the world Wil has the heartfelt acceptance of the Cuban people.
