"Underground Elevation Part 1 The Movement Review"

From the state of South Carolina, Wilchild and Marv4MoBeats bring to you Underground Elevation Part 1: The Movement. Wilchild is a man originally from Kenya, and at the age of 11 moved to the U.S. It was at age 16 that not only did he give his life to the Lord, but God healed him of his epilepsy. I love hearing of the healing power of God, not only renewing spirits but healing bodies as well. At my old college I continue to hear of people praying for healing and getting healed from epilepsy and others as well and it’s a blessing to see His ways. When I listen to this album we can see a man who keeps moving, proclaiming the truth of God without compromise.

The album starts off with a passionate acapella named “Call To Action”, and even though Wilchild wasn’t the one rapping on this acapella, I can hear the urgency that comes from those who are apart of this project and was a great intro. Next came the title track “The Movement”, which not only expresses what they are here for, but is a spin off of a line from R-Swift, where he says, “If the cross ain’t done yet then neither is the movement”. I really enjoyed the beat Marv4Mo Beats did man! It really started the album with the boost that comes after such a passionate intro acapella! In fact, with listening to this album I found a couple allusions to CMR/Reach lyrics such as one from Lecrae: “If its Christ we believing, we shouldn’t be confused with the heathen”, Iz-Real of Everyday Process: “I guess it’s safe to say the Rock’s in the building”, Tedashii: “God chose us to save us man”. Some were allusions, and others were just chopped and screwed choruses that went very well with the beats supplied to it as well as the lyrics.

Some of my favorites for the album happen to be “More Than”, “God Chose Us”, “The Movement”, “The Rock is in the Building”, and a couple others. As I said before I liked how Marv4Beats used the samples and chopped and screwed some of them, and other tracks had some real great singing along with great samples such as “More Than”, which is a track that really speaks on how Jesus is truly more than everything to us. “I Wait” is another great song on keeping one pure for marriage.

Underground Elevation is an album that you can really chill to and take in, as well as push you to move and not keep still as well. The beats were freshly laid, and I liked the producer’s use of samples in tracks. There were probably two tracks that didn’t immediately grab me as something I want to listen to, but there isn’t anything that you can’t enjoy with this offering. There were as much cameos as tracks with this album, such as Sir-viva, Zerubbabel(love that name haha), Jayreed, and a host of others. Expect to get some hard-hitting lyrics, straight passion and refreshment served on beats! - Dasouth.com

"Where The Wild Things Are"

allow me to share with you this months spotlight, typically, more than half the top rap songs in the country are the work of Southern artists. In a world still stuck in the East/West coast paradigm of the '90s, Southern hip hop has dominated the genre-and defined the culture-for years, and April is our first rap spotlight since Adam Records went live in December 2012. WilChild a rapper from Atlanta who later settled in South Carolina has been doing it big for the Lord since 2003.

A native of kenya, who moved to America as a young boy, coupled with Gods grace was healed from the spirit of epilepsy after accepting Christ in his life, he soon discovered his love for people and his passion for music. Over the years Wilchild has been nominated for awards, featured on music websites and has appeared on television shows. Driven to reach more people with the gospel of Christ; Captivated Music and Captivated Clothing was created. In 2009 WilChild's debut album, 'Underground elevation pt.1- the movement' allowed him the opportunity to spread Gods message across most of the east coast.

After listening to 'the movement' CD it was clear to me that this MC is legit on tracks like 'The Rock is in The Building' and 'God Chose Us' attracting broad new audiences: its across-the-board appeal and ambition overshadowed nearly every other rap album released in 2009, It takes a few listens to pull everything together, but given the immense scope, it's striking how few weak tracks there are.

The follow up album 'Underground Elevation pt.2-'The Blacklight Effect', which included features from artists such as Von Won, D-Maub, Knine, The Rock Band Bayless and others, WilChild experiments with color on the sophomore album, but as anyone who's ever vigorously finger-painted knows, combine too many colors and you create a single hue. These lyrical scribbles color the entirety of "The Blacklight Effect" Get Reborn, "Living a Lie," and on. This album is done well and takes you on a lyrical journey. WilChild gets better with time and we look forward to what he brings next to the table. - AdamMusicGroup
