Biography

The Shakedown is an original Rock & Roll band drawing inspiration from American roots music.

Currently the band is supporting it's debut album "Wild & Free," which was produced by Doug Easley of the famed Easley-McCain Recording in Memphis, TN. The band is also working hard to finish their episode of Sun Studio Sessions filmed during the recording of "Wild & Free."

Based in Upstate, NY, the band was formed in 2008 and began a tremendous run at the world famous Dinosaur BBQ in both Syracuse & Rochester. The group later appeared at such festivals as Taste of Syracuse and the Jameseville Balloonfest, which gave them exposure to thousands of new fans. After performing throughout New York including a gig at Sullivan Hall in New York City, The Shakedown took a major step forward with their work in Memphis with legendary indie producer Doug Easley (Wilco, White Stripes, Pavement). The band completed a 14-track original album entitled "Wild & Free."

While working in Memphis the band had a dream opportunity to record & film a performance at the legendary Sun Studio where Rock & Roll music was born. That session will be the subject of a DVD to be released in 2012.

Currently, the band is assembling an active schedule of appearances in support of "Wild & Free" that will take them throughout the U.S. and Canada.

"We look forward to making as many new friends as possible and sharing our songs with those seeking music that speaks to their soul!"

Lyrics

Blonde (In the Wintertime)

Written By: Sean Patrick Taylor

I think someday that you will find
That you're the only one
Who could ever know this heart of mine

But if moving on is what is best
Then I'll be strong for you to show
That you are blessed

This is where you are...and I try to understand
This is where you are...

So tell me if you're feeling cold
Cause I will reach you
With hands to hold

La-De-Da, Oh I...
La-De-Da, Oh I...

I don't want to wait for you, but I will
Cause I could wait forever and love you still

La-De-Da, Oh I...
La-De-Da, Oh I...

I'll wait for you, in the wintertime
I will wait for you, in the wintertime
I will wait for you, in the wintertime

And I don't want you to go...
No, I don't want to let you go

Lost & Gone

Written By: Sean Patrick Taylor

I was stranded at the dawning when the call came through the line
As it stopped me in my tracks I was frozen there in time
That I couldn't know you, hold you or see you through the years
I was left here to face up to emptiness and fear (Of what's)

Lost, lost so much is lost and gone
Lost, lost so much is lost and gone

Honey if I was ready I wouldn't have let you go
You had so much more to give and I have so much more to show
Now I'm haunted and punished by the things that will never be
So open up the gates, Lord, set my baby free (Cause it's)

Lost, lost so much is lost and gone
Lost, lost so much is lost and gone

I would have waited at the end of the aisle, babe
Just for the sight of your wedding gown
I would have seen you through your dark times
I would have shown you the light out

It was raining, raining on that morning in July
Yeah it rained, it damn near rained so hard it ran the bottle dry
So let the rain come. Rain, come! Wash away our sins
Leave us with the thoughts of the things that might have been (And are)

Lost, lost so much is lost and gone
Lost, lost so much is lost and gone

Resolutions

Written By: Sean Patrick Taylor

Headed for the river just as fast as we can
Rollin through the western south
Tryin to get to Memphis city
Wanna see what all the talk is about

See the railroad and the cattle marching
Catch lightning on the Texas plains
When you spend six dozen hours
Tryin to keep it between two lanes

And I can't resolve the times I've spent
And the feelings that I live without
But the answer belongs to the future
That's what the trip is about

Because the heartache still hurts
And the memories don't help
I choose to believe the best times are ahead
Not trapped between a frame and a shelf

It's easy to get lost when you're spending life on the road
Hopes and dreams they fold and wash away
See a lot of faces trying to make it on their own
But there's a road that leads to home and I'll find it someday

So the days, the years, the miles roll on
The picture could be somebody else
Through the joy and the grief to the search for relief
Oh! the stories that we could tell

You could spend your whole life dreaming
Wake up wishing you were somebody else
When the light at the end you were promised
Becomes a reflection of your self...

Just a reflection of yourself... It was just a reflection of your self

Excuse me, do you have the time?
These days it's getting hard to find
Because every moment lost is an opportunity
And I don't think I'm ready to just let it be

You know you look just like my old friend
A hopeless dreamer to no end
Where's the solution to the trouble that you're in?
Well he's run off and I couldn't tell ya where he's been

Hey now I wished that you stayed
But you packed your bag up and moved it away
Out west, home on the range
Where the dreams come true by dozens every day

One day you suggested "Come with me!"
There are so many skylines left to see
Let's hop in this beat up car. Come on it's gettin late
I can hear the calling of the interstate

Hey now I wished that you stayed
But you packed your bag up and moved it away
Out west, home on the range
Where the dreams come true by dozens every day

Are you taking good care of yourself?
Your mom's gettin worried bout your health
When you look in that mirror do you like the face you see?
Would I know you if you were standing right next to me?

Hey now I wished that you stayed
But you packed your bag up and moved it away
Out west, home on the range
Where the dreams come true by dozens...EVERYDAY!
