"Get to Know: Wild Couch"

Wild Couch is a San Francisco folk band that according to member Will Skinner began "with casual acoustic jam sessions and then mutated into overdrive banjo solos and heavy metal drumming." Eventually, they recorded their debut album Ottoman Empire at Tiny Telephone, which was released earlier this summer. The album is a combination of songs written over five years ago and others written just a few days before their recording session. Tracks such as "Metronome" take the band's traditional instruments in unique directions that separate the band from bluegrass and folk traditionalists. Listen to Ottoman Empire in its entirety below, watch their latest video for "Burrito", (which is hell of a lot of fun despite the sacrilege of an admission of eating a Taco Bell burrito), or catch them live at a couple of Oakland dates over the next months. - Bay Bridged

Bio

Wild Couch started out with casual acoustic jam sessions that mutated into overdrive banjo solos and heavy metal drumming.  We have been moving audiences all around the Bay Area for two year now.  With three songwriters, our songs range stylistically from heartwrenching folk ballads to dancy indie pop to 90's garage rock, but they are unified by great songwriting, catchy hooks and tight vocal harmony.
Ottoman Empire, our first studio album, was recorded over 10 marathon days at Tiny Telephone Studio in Spring 2015 with producer Beau Sorenson.  It contains a selection of our favorite songs - some were written over 5 years ago, and some were written a few days before we stepped into the studio.  We hope it captures a slice of the different places we've been so far, and the excitement about where we're heading.
