Wildlife City

Five medical students, all bored after two months of learning the ins and outs of the human body, formed Wildlife City in a cold, cramped practice space behind a lecture hall. With members from what seems to be a random spattering across the United States (New York, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio and California), it's no surprise that their influences are as varied as the Black Keys, to Mozart, to Queen. However, once these five students began playing the pure talent exhibited at each instrument transcended the different influences, making it evident that they would become more than just another student band.

They began playing gigs across New York City, and quickly gained a following large enough to demand headlining weekend spots at the best underground venues; Fontana's, the Delancy, Arlene's Grocery, Lit Lounge, Hank's Saloon, and Don's Hills just to name a few. They played with bands like Ladycop, Gladshot, and many more. After a few years playing as a hobby and recording their first single ("In a Former Life") at the Clive Davis studio in New York, the band decided to take a few days off schooling and record with Jimmy Goodman (The Strokes) at Leopard Studio in upstate New York. In one weekend, the band recorded three eclectic tracks, and bundled it as a four song EP released to much anticipation June 2010 in New York City.

When Wildlife City's talents were tried on the road, in Washington DC, a sold-out crowd came to see what would be their best show yet at "The Red and the Black."

Although the quest towards becoming doctors took much time out of 2011, the band still made it back into the Clive Davis studio to record "You Want It," with French producer Cecile Tournasec. This is reviewed as the band's "best recording yet," and it's driving beat and idyllic bridge will be the main force driving the band into the end of the year and beyond.

In 2012, with more time for music, Wildife City finds itself wanting to affect as many ears as possible before the year is over. They are embarking on a tour of the Northeast, Midwest, and Canada during March of 2012, and plan on recording enough to release an LP by the start of this tour. Kareem is writing at a pace the band has not seen since their inception, and right now the future is looking bright.
