BandPop

William Routhier is a songwriter/musician from the Boston area. He played in the Buzzarians, a garage band of the 80's, and The Dharma Bums, a folk-rock trio of the late 80's. He writes folk, rock, indie and blues tunes, and has honed his craft over the years, with an ear for radio friendly songs.

Biography

I played music as a folk singer songwriter, then played in bands, notably The Dharma Bums. The band got radio play on BCN and other local stations in the mid-late 80's. Rounder distributed The Dharma Bums record in the 80's. After a while, I opted out of performing music to write literature. I've written a detective novel, "Love in Vain Blues," with a part-time blues musician as the main character. I've continued writing songs all along, and have composed material with several Boston area songwriting musicians, including Larry Luddeke of The Band That Time Forgot. I'm currently writing mainly country and folk tunes, with the occasional blues song.

That Touch

Written By: William Routhier

That Touch

Never met another girl quite like you
you seem to hypnotize me baby, yes it’s true

you just say the word and I will see it through
I’m at your command and I will stick like glue

You’ve got that touch
I think I lost my grip
you shoot those sparks
out of your fingertips

you got so much
I just can’t handle it
you got that,
you got that touch

I’d lay my coat down on a puddle for you
forget Sir Walter Raleigh, I’d lay down too

yeah I’d go crawling down the avenue
you want protection I will learn kung-fu

You’ve got that touch
I think I lost my grip
you shoot those sparks
off of your fingertips

you got so much
I just can’t handle it
you got that,
you got that touch

lay your hands on me darlin’
just like a Southern preacher will
lay your hands on me darlin’
you know you make me fulfilled

Never met another girl quite like you
you seem to hypnotize me baby, yes it’s true

you just say the word and I will see it through
I’m at your command and I will stick like glue

You’ve got that touch
I think I lost my grip
you shoot those sparks
off of your fingertips

you got so much
I just can’t handle it
you got that,
you got that touch

Seeing Things

Written By: William Routhier

Seeing Things

(verse)
went out for a ride just to get some air
drove around the corner and I saw you there

you were with a guy who wasn’t me
that's not the way it’s supposed to be

(chorus)
I must be
seeing things
I must be
seeing things

since when do
you have flings
I must be
seeing things

(verse)
pulled the car over across the street
you were so busy you didn’t notice me

holding hands and flirting with that guy
I had to rub my fingers in my eyes

(chorus)
thought I was
seeing things
I must be
seeing things

since when do
you have flings
I must be
seeing things

(bridge)
when it comes to trust you know I’ve got a lot
but my loving eyes have been covered by a blot

I used to see a tomorrow, bright and true
now I see there’s nothing real about you

(verse)
watched you walk away, alone with him
turned the car around, my hopes gone dim

nothing in my eyes but pain and tears
looking at my future and you won’t be there

(chorus)
I must be
seeing things
I must be
seeing things

can’t believe
what life brings
I must be
seeing things

(chorus)
I must be
seeing things
I must be
seeing things

since when do
you have flings
I must be
seeing things
