"Mixtape Review: "Social Insecurity" by WIll EQ (Atlanta, GA)"

WILL EQ’s smooth lyrical style on his latest mixtape “Social Insecurity” is what makes this Atlanta MC different from the rest trying to make it in Hip Hop these days. It’s seems like Will EQ is not trying at all, but doing the total opposite, making straight banger after banger! He def has a natural talent of lyricism. The beat selection and samples in this project give the listeners a variety of styles, from slow tempo, to high tempo neck breakers. The mix and sound quality represented in “Social Insecurity” also compliments any sound system lacking dope music, and real Hip Hop!
Three tracks that caught our attention and made it on the reply section of our personal play list are “Die Enormous”, “Zombie”, “Big Lebowski ft. Hobo the Great, Rose Gold Cole”, and “Remote Control”. Make sure you follow WIL EQ: Twitter/Instagram: @WiLLEQ, Soundcloud.com/will-eq

"Fresh-Picked Talent: Will EQ - The Balancer"

It’s baaacck! Fresh-Picked Talent, a series that features new and up-and-coming artists, is back and is one of my favorite things to post on Musically Yummy.
The reason why I love it so much is because I love new artists. I’m a fan of popular artists but honestly if that is all you are listening to, you need a little variety in your life.
Let me start by introducing you to Will EQ.
You’ve probably heard his name around other music blogs and for good reason.
Will is aiming to help balance Hip Hop with his thought-provoking lyrics that make you sit, listen, and learn.
And no, it’s not like a boring lesson from your parents. You can actually vibe to his music plus he has something to say using language that we all can understand.
Will EQ is from Atlanta, GA and has been referred to as the “Nas of the south.” According to his bio, he got his start in music as a songwriter penning lyrics for other artists.
He released his mixtape Social Insecurity last year which received good reviews.
When I received his submission, one thing that stood out to me was the mention that he might one day be considered the “Bob Marley of rap.” Once I read that, I just had to see for myself.
And you know what, I agree. - Musically Yummy

"AllHipHop Review - Will EQ "Can I Borrow Your Lighter""

Will EQ drops his track “Can I Borrow Your Lighter” a coming out track of sorts from his Social Insecurity project on DatPiff. The track is produced by The Psychonautz, who gave Will EQ a low key banger with somber horns that repeat in that background over gritty drums. Pay attention to the lyrics because Will EQ is observing his surroundings in an introspective way thats sure to draw attention. - www.allhiphop.com

"Will EQ Interview"

I2G chilled with Will EQ for an exclusive interview. We discuss his start in hip hop, upcoming projects and much more so check it out

I2G is here with Will EQ, how’s it going?

I am doing great. How about yourself?

Good. For those unfamiliar with your music, tell me a little bit about your start in hip hop and some of your musical influences.

I have been listening to Hip Hop for as long as I can remember. I actually wrote my first rhyme in Kindergarten. The first time I recorded though, I was about 17. I was part of a local Atlanta group at the time, but then I split off and went solo. In terms of influences, the people who really influenced my music were Outkast and Goodie Mob (specifically Andre 3000 and Cee Lo Green). Also, Jay Z, Common and Nas were big influences on me as well.

You just recently dropped your new single entitled Dreamers, which we premiered on the site. Tell me a little bit about the single and how it came together for you.

I feel like there are not enough Motivational/Inspirational records out there in Hip Hop. So I created “Dreamers” to be a record that you can dance to, but that still gives you a good/motivational message. I want people to hear “Dreamers” and to walk away feeling like they can accomplish anything, anything they dream.

Now this single will be on your new album entitled Social Insecurity 1.5: Rise of the Machine. What are listeners in store for when they check out the project?

“Social Insecurity 1.5: Rise of Machine” is a sequel to my previous mixtape “Social Insecurity”. It is also a prelude to my upcoming EP “7 Day Weekend”. The first “Social Insecurity” mixtape was a darker project, while “Rise of Machine” is more upbeat, but still with the same socially conscious messages laced into it.

Do you have any upcoming videos?

Yes, I just dropped the video for the “It Girl Remix” I did. I am also going to be dropping videos for “Ctrl Alt Delete”, “Can I Borrow Your Lighter” and “Dreamers” in the upcoming weeks.

What are your thoughts on the state of hip hop in 2014?

Honestly, I like the state of Hip Hop music in 2014 – in the sense that whatever type of hip hop music you like it is out there. The problem though, is the Music Industry Machine only puts the spotlight on certain types of hip hop. And by doing that they are killing off some of the excitement for Hip Hop music, because they are basically telling people to turn on the radio and listen to basically the same record, with basically the same messages (that lack any level of social consciousness, despite everything that is going on in the world) – without getting bored.

So really the problem with Hip Hop is not the music, but the Music Industry Machine that tries to control what music reaches the public. So to me, it has become necessary to fight that Machine that wants to control people, with another Machine that wants to free people. And that is what my movement – Machine Society – is all about, i.e. creating Machines that fight back against the ones that seek to control us.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?

Yeah, I have shows in North Carolina and Virginia coming up in the next couple weeks. Plus, I plan on performing at SXSW in March.

What is your website information?

My website is www.willeq.com People can also find me on twitter (@WillEQ), instagram, facebook and soundcloud. There are links to all my pages on my website.

Appreciate your time, any last words or shout outs?

I just want to tell everyone to go get “Social Insecurity 1.5: Rise of the Machine” and to look out for “7 Day Weekend”. Also, shout outs to everyone who has joined the Machine Society movement – all the Machines out there – keep doing your thing. And a shout out to I2G as well! Thanks for the love! - Illuminati2G

"AllHipHop Will EQ "It Girl Remix""

Cruise around Decatur, Georgia with budding emcee Will EQ as he plays the backseat to his “It Girl” while she takes a ride around town on a night not unlike any other. Borrowing Pharrell’s hit of the same name, Will pays ode to that special lady who’s down to ride or die for her man in any and every fashion in the Machine Society directed visuals. With a hippy-activist nature in tow, the Atlanta native has everything he needs in the driver’s seat as he heads towards the release of his brand new project “Social 1.5: Rise of The Machine”, where this track lives. Look for it to drop next week exclusively on AudioMack. - www.allhiphop.com

"Video Will EQ "It Girl Remix""

The second line in this song says “can you be the Yoko Ono of black women?” and I asked myself “what the hell does that mean?” Outside of that, this is Will EQ and he offers a video for his song “It Girl”, which touches on those who are not only “it” girls but why “it” girls are important to some. In this case, the song is a remix. Machine Society directed this one. - www.thisisbooksmusic.com

"Audio Mack - Will EQ "Social Insecurity 1.5: Rise of the Machine""

For Atlanta native Will EQ it's all come down to this. With the release of his brand new project "Social Insecurity 1.5: Rise Of The Machine", his voice is being used for much more than just lyrics; he's trying to change the world. Now this may sound like a large feat to some, but when you understand what it takes to ascend against the ranks of those opposing us, the only thing left to do is fight fire with fire.

Building a machine of his own, Will brings organization to the forefront and picks up where he left off with his previous release. Blending hidden metaphors with double meanings, he just asks that you don't call this a sequel, but more of a continuation of the social consciousness he's been speaking since he broke onto the scene. - www.audiomack.com

His new movement “Machine Society” is the fuel behind this driving force, with a team of creatives taking a stand and putting on for all the truth seekers of the world. Production comes in limited, but strong showing from The Psychonautz, Zen and The Beat Machines, as Hobo the Great and King Cole handle feature duties. Look for EQ to continue his uprising with the impending release of his brand new album “7 Day Weekend”, coming soon. For now, fall out of line, take a stand and press play on the movement that is “Social Insecurity 1.5: Rise Of The Machine”. - www.allhiphop.com

"Mechanical Dummy Premiers Will EQ video "Ctrl Alt Delete""

Atlanta emcee Will EQ takes some time out to paint us a picture of today’s society through his eyes. The ATL rapper sees his words come to life with the release of his brand new visual and Mechanical Dummy premiere for Ctrl Alt Delete. Credits go to Machine Society for handling the direction of the video as he does a great job of capturing Will’s story through real life imagery mixed with a cartoon world. The record for the video lives on Will’s most recent project, “Social 1.5: Rise of The Machine”, which is available now on AudioMack. Bio

Born in Atlanta, GA,  and raised east of Atlanta, Will EQ came from a musically diverse family making his gravitation towards music inevitable. Will EQ got his start in the music industry writing for various artist on Warner and Universal Records. Will then took his gift for writing to the next level, carefully honing his own craft and releasing thought provoking and provocative music. Although blunt and sometime contraversial, Will delivers his messages in an effortless array of witty word play and vivid storytelling. Considering himself "more of a philosopher than a rapper," Will looked up to other artist like Nas, Common, and Andre 3000 because they are more like "narrators for the hood." Listeners are almost instantly drawn into Will EQ's musical whirlwind. His latest project "Social Insecurity" has received an overwhelming response. Popular blog sites have referred to Will as the "Nas of the South." In a recent interview Will mentions the following:

"If rap or hip hop is the new rock and roll, I guess Im creating the new alternative music. Mainly because I offer an alternative to what you are used to hearing and seeing in hip hop. Im in no way against club music or any other genre in hip hopI just try to bring a balance. I try to make music that offers feelings and emotions that everyone can relate to. Thats why it seems like I have fans from a Chevy rider in Decatur to a pot smoker in Seattle."
