The Ballad of Corporal Simons and the)
Lord of the Flies

(William and the Goldings)

Intro (Narrative)

After being ambushed a few miles south of El-Fariq all my comrades in D-patrol Were dead. I myself feigned death and somehow managed to evade capture and I began To walk through the lonely dessert alone with no food or water, my soul hung heavy , burdened with the Darkness that inhabits the heart of man and held little hope of survival
When I chanced upon a cave which
For sometime thereafter I was able to call my home. It was in said cave that I experienced a strange
revelatory experience rendered in glorious Technicolor, possibly inspired by the
William Golding novel I had just been reading and perhaps facilitated by my penchant for conciousness expanding narcotics in my youth. It went a little something like this….

Verse 1

Although it’s dark in here, now I see

The truth take off it’s clothes and reveal itself to me

Pig’s head on a stick you haunt my darkest fantasies

You haunt the souls of countless men

And now you haunt the soul of me

Silly boy, silly boy do you not see, now I see

You’re not a beast from which I can flee

No, no no you are a part of me

And in the supernatural light appeared a strange creature, and he said…

Chorus

(I AM THE)
Lord of the flies,

Look into my eyes,

I’m Lord of the flies

Verse 2

And it said one day you’ll see the flames rise up and watch this whole world burning down

As bloody corpses line the bloody streets of every town

But still you will not see, you will never understand

As you pray to your God and weep into your bloody hands (Screaming ‘it was not me, it was the beast’)

I’m not a beast that you can kill or from which you can flee (‘I’m not that kind of beast’)

I’m as much a part of you as I am a part of me

And sometimes in your darkest dreams I will appear as a giant fly

And I will sing to you….

Chorus

I’m Lord of the flies,

Look into my eyes,

I’m Lord of the flies

1,2 ,3,4..

I’m not a beast that you can kill or from which you can flee

I’m as much a part of you as I am a part of me

Chorus

I’m Lord of the flies,

Look into my eyes,

I’m Lord of the flies

Narrative (continued)

It was several months later that I regained consciousness, finding myself in the capable hands of the staff of Baltimore Psychiatric Institution.
I had been picked up,, it seems, by a convoy of Canadian Marines who had found me in a remote area of North-Eastern Afghanistan dressed as a giant insect and surrounded by several volumes of hand scribbled notes ,
(Father ure, qui art on regina terminum, mantramulam mantramulam on hefonum earthern, Ubu fueris hringa yogi gmyar thy riche become incendis guru padam)

...written in a language as yet unknown to mankind but resembling a weird hybrid of Sanskrit, Latinand the West Saxon dialect of Old English.
And as I lay in that hospital bed and the doctor bore over me I observed that bizarre changes had
come about his person:- his body was becoming remarkably hairy, his eyes had begun to pertrude and were now out of all proportion to the rest of his face
but even more worryingly he had developed an enormous pair of transparent wings on his back. And I knew it was only a matter of time before he started to sing.

And indeed he started to sing. He said…….

( I AM THE)
Chorus

Lord of the flies,

Look into my eyes,

I’m Lord of the flies

Outro

Father ure, qui art on regina terminum,

Mantramulam mantramulam on hefonum earthern,

Ubu fueris hringa yogi gmyare

Thy riche become incendis guru padam

(repeat until fade)

Vive La Revolution

Maximillian Robespierre, did you ever feel the cold wind in your hair?
For you like everyone would die
though freedom would live on
Like the songs of the birds that you
saw in the cold Montmatre sky
Walking alone with your head in
the clouds
Always alone, so sad and alone

And so our hero has returned

Victorious in battle
(enter full band)
On a misty heath in a strange meeting he will learn

Of a prophecy of riches he will gain

Though he shrugs it off and laughs
F# (lingers for 3 lines)
A strange poison has been poured into his brain
(He tries to pour it out but it still remains)
As he rode across marshy moor
Through the misty air and swirling wind he swear he heard voices singing,,,,

Chorus
(soft)

You can have temples made of gold You can have this world if I can have your soul
(heavy)

Verse 2
(full band)

The stage is set and our hero meets his king and lord

And he loves him but cannot stop thinking of his hoard

Of gold and his power and his shiny crown

But he was weak and his dark desires lay darkly underground

Enter stage right a fair maid

Who called herself a lady but she was as bad as those hags from the glade
My leige, she says, I can read you like a book

In your mind youre trying to picture how you’d look

In a shiny crown and chains of gold

But you’re going to let the moment pass just cos you’re not bold

Enough to seize it

And though I dearly love my son you’ll understand

I’d smash out his brains if I had sworn to

….and you call yourself a man….

And it was General MacBeth in the bedroom

With the knife in his hand

Duncan, you know that I love you

But you have to understand

As he stood trembling by the old man’s bed
His bloody hands all dripping red
Through the black and filthy night he swore
He heard voices singing

Chorus

Verse 3

And now you’ve got it all but you can’t help feeling empty and lost

You’ve gained a mighty kingdom but at what a cost?

When you mapped it out with all your lofty plans and schemes

You never planned on having all these terrible dreams?

People are beginning to talk how long can you hide

As the bodies pile up double, treble, quadruple, quintuple homocide

And your life is ruled by bloody swords and daggers for your crimes

Daggers of stainless steel and daggers of the mind

And your lover who thought she had a heart of stone

Found she was more human than she could have ever known

Mad Lady MacBeth section sung

(now you) Hear her calling from a lonely ocean (wolf howl in the background)

Watching the bloody sun bleed into the sea

Hear her singing

Verse 3 (part b)

But now you’re clean out of friends an army is raised and is sent

These horrible murders have to be avenged

And though you thought as much before now you know you’re insane

As you watch Birnam Wood move up to Dunsinane

And you watch the battle rage outside and look upon the dead

And you try to quell the battle that still rages inside your head

And so here he comes my noble nemesis

Set to deliver me to that world from this

Ha ha, don’t celebrate so hastily

No man borne of woman can lay a finger on me

Ha, ha, I was a hefty lad and ripped from my mamma’s womb

Now I’m gonna rip you up bitch and stick you in a tomb

Who try so hard to gain the world but loose their souls

And even their minds
