"Road Star Doolitle in Q"

Rather than some sort of woody fabrication. William Hut is the exquisite, very Morten Harket-sounding voice of Poor Rich Ones, Norway’s own Radiohead. It’s not an easy cross to bear, but on the evidence of their debut U.K. release, Happy Happy Happy, something they are more than capable of handling. This side-project follows a similar heartsick sonic trajectory, albeit with less guitar clang going on. Infinitely sad and nocturnal, yet uplifting rather than depressing. This is a real find.

"Days to Remember in BOSTON GLOBE"

William Hut is a Norwegian pop star who came to Boston last year and, for a change of pace, made this album with the cream of the local roots-music scene. He had met some of the key figures (Barrence Whitfield and Michael Dinallo, who produced the disc) when they toured Norway. The album leans toward dreamy, atmospheric country-folk, while Hut's shimmering vocals sound like a cross between those of Phil Collins and Gram Parsons. It is compelling music with Hut singing sweetly about seeking salvation (''By the Seaside"), holding on to love (''Don't Let Go"), mending conflicts (''Faded Highway"), and even taking a break from the club scene (''Daydream Fight" has the eerily honest line, ''Tell all the girls that I'm tired of drinking"). It is a quietly spare, self-revelatory record with simply gorgeous contributions from Boston string band the Resophonics (on two tracks) and such eminent locals as lap steel guitarist Steve Sadler, bassist Paul Kochanski (of the Swinging Steaks), and drummer Andy Plaisted. Together they form a rotating cast known as the Fashion Park Rangers, augmented by Norwegian pianist/Hammond B3 organist Bjorn Bunes. The cultural exchange reaps dividends, for this is some of the prettiest music to come along in a while. All songs were written by Hut and Bunes, except for a tender, transcendent version of Hank Williams's ''The Log Train," where the Norwegians show their affection for traditional country.

"Vs The End of Fashion Park in UNCUT"

-Former Poor Rich Ones vocalist crafts wintry classic-
All clichés about Scandinavian melancholy aside, Bergen-based Hut´s second solo album is warmly sad, high on heartbreak. His angelic voice recalls Stipe at his most engaged, of RObin Gibb, and he pumps just the right amount of epic grandeur into scorched, lyrically subversive torch songs like "Twin Town" and "It´s The Breeze". Lazy Kings Of Convenience comparisons may happen, but this is darker, more probing: "I remember" slithers from Cocteau Twins to Ornette Coleman.

Bio

WILLIAM HUT released his fourth solo album, "Nightfall", this January (2007). The album has already sold 30 000 copies (platinum), and has produced two massive radio hits; "Take it Easy" & "You might Thrill me"
The first single "Take it Easy" received the platinum award, and has enjoyed over 6 months in the charts.

WILLIAM HUT has already made international waves as vocalist for the Norwegian Grammy Award winning Poor Rich Ones and with his previous solo work.

In the United States, Williams first solo album, Road Star Doolittle received fantastic reviews. Rolling Stone critic Rob O'Connor put it in his list of top 10 albums released in the U.S. in 2003.

Williams second album Versus the End of Fashion Park was also met with critical acclaim and produced two radio hits in Norway. Uncut Magazine said this about it: Huts second solo album is warmly sad, high on heartbreak (a) wintry classic.

Days to Remember, the third and most Americana influenced album of his catalogue, was recorded over a busy week in April 2004, in Boston, and got released the following fall. To highly critical acclaims the album got attention all over Europe, and earned William a grammy nomination in his native Norway.
