"William Scott & SILVERADO Attend Press Conference"

William Scott and SILVERADO members Rick Randlett and Ricky Mullins attended the official Press release for the 2009 Suwannee River Jam lineup on Wednesday at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Hall. The guys got to meet with Country "Rapper" Colt Ford, who William Scott said was "a trip." Also attending were Williams & Mertz, an acoustic Country duo from Jacksonville. "Great guys!", says William Scott, "I can't wait to share the stage with them!" Johnny Bulford, the 2009 Colgate Country Showdown Grand Prize Winner, was also on hand to "stir it up" with the guys - CGMR Entertainment

"Local boys make good: William Scott & Silverado to play Suwannee River Jam"

Members of William Scott & Silverado performed at the Spirit of the Suwannee during their first gig as a band. Four short months later this newly formed group – three of whose four members are Suwannee County residents – will take the stage at the Suwannee River Jam among numerous big-name performers.

Steve Briscoe, director of the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Hall, was impressed with the group from the start.

"Their first night they won the audience over," Briscoe said.

The group had played at the park only a few times when Briscoe asked them to become regulars at the park and to play at the Jam.

William Scott and Jamie Ganote, who formed the band, say it's the opportunity of a lifetime.

"I'm still waiting to wake up," Scott said.

"Suwannee Music Park is the place to be in this part of the country," Ganote said. "There are bands around this area that have been here forever and never, ever walked in the front door of the Suwannee Music Park or stood on one of their stages. So for us to get that break is a godsend."

William Scott & Silverado will play on the First Street Music Sound Stage on Friday at 3:45 p.m. They will also open for Blake Shelton at 7:30 p.m. the same day.

Though some of the band members have played together before, the band wasn't formed until last October. Members of the band are: Scott -- lead vocals, drums, rhythm guitar; Ganote -- drums, backup vocals, lead vocals; Rick Randlett -- lead guitar, vocals; and Ricky Mullins -- bass guitar, vocals. All members are local, except Randlett, who lives in Newberry.

Scott and Ganote consider themselves fortunate to play alongside musicians such as John Anderson, whom they both consider their hero.

"He's been one of my biggest heroes since the early 80s when he first got started," Scott said.

"It's got to be one of the highlights of my career to be able to play at the Suwannee and rub elbows with people like John Anderson," Ganote said.

Ganote said variety of music and crowd participation is what sets the band apart.

"We don't leave too many stones unturned when it comes to our music. We do everything from George Strait to George Thorogood and everything from Jimmy Buffett to Jimmy Hendrix," Ganote said.

The band is big on crowd participation, meeting fans after the show.

Scott said of one fan who never misses a show, "I always go give her a hug and tell her thanks for coming out."

The band plays at the Music Hall at the Spirit of the Suwannee every other Friday.

"They've become somewhat of a staple at the Music Hall," Briscoe said.

Bio

William Scott wanted to create a solid, original music based band. He had performed for most of his career as a percussionist but had always wanted to be a vocalist. When he finally got the opportunity in 2007, he made a name for himself. Unfortunately, the band he was performing with broke up a short time after. Scott decided that he was going to find a group of musicians and start at the ground level. Fortunately, he ran into Bassist Ricky Mullins a few months after the band break up. Mullins had played with Scott in the previous band. The two, along with former drummer Jamie Ganote, got together and decided it was time to find a top notch Lead Guitar player. Scott posted a "Guitar Player Needed" ad at the local music store and, within 24 hours, Rick Randlett answered the call. Randlett was a local music instructor who agreed with what the members were trying to accomplish. After a short audition, Randlett was welcomed and the band was complete. The band began their legacy with many covers and few originals, but as time passed, the members decided that Original music was the goal. Randlett had written and recorded over three albums worth of Blues based music that he felt would become the foundation for WS & SILVERADO's sound. This was a concept that the rest of the members quickly grasped on to. Scott had also written, but not recorded, quite a few tunes himself that he presented to Randlett. The end result is a sound like no other. Even WS & SILVERADO's cover tunes have a different sound than any ordinary "cover band". The bands popularity quickly took the local music scene by storm. Their very first show at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Hall, in Live Oak Florida, won them a spot at the 2009 Suwannee River Jam. Numerous local articles have been written on WS & SILVERADO, along with radio coverage and TV ads. In August of 2009, Percussionist Jamie Ganote left the band for his own reasons. On Sept 7th, 2009, current Percussionict / Vocalist Phil Marston joined the guys. Marston is a 40 plus year veteran of the music scene from Nashville Tennessee. He has quickly made himself known to the bands fans. Marston has a strong desire to keep the band focused and on the "beat", so to speak. Their reputation as a "hometown" band has been established. Now its time for YOU to take them to the next level. Join the friends list and share your thoughts with us. Tell your friends. Give us location suggestions. We are always looking to meet new people and make new friends. Come see why WS & SILVERADO are becoming one of North Florida's hottest new original acts. William Scott & SILVERADO, the cure for the common "cover" band!
