Bio

Willing to Stay is comprised of Andrew Brown and Ben Scism, two 20 year old sophmores from the University of Arkansas. Beginning in the fall of 2004, this duo brought their collaborative skills together. After extensive lyrical effort, the group began to hone their musical ability. With Andrew’s melodic vocals and Ben’s instrumental talent, this acoustic duo produces affectionate, poppy music while maintaining to make a poignant lyrical statement. This pair of friends has been featured on the CD “Bands of Tomorrow” and started to gain national attention. With its moving vocal presence, Willing to Stay hopes to produce music which speaks to its audience. Having an uncanny ability to transmit a message in which the listener can relate to, they will continue to captivate audiences for as long as they can hold their guitars.

Both members of Willing to Stay serve as the principle songwriters for the duo. With song content ranging from relationships to the weather to life in general, the two write with the purpose of relating to their audience at any given moment. This relationship formed allows for the band to connect with its listeners in a way that is seldom found in today’s music.

Their stage show very much reflects who they are on an everyday occasion. Whether it be Andrew’s hilarious stories about life or Ben’s “shakin’ his hips to the feel of the beat,” (line from their song “American Senorita”), the two friends will do any and everything to see a smile on the faces of their audience. These smiles are highlighted when, out of nowhere, Andrew and Ben break out into a song from their childhood such as “Ice Ice Baby” or the theme song to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, thus involving their audience on a whole new level, a level reminiscent of friends driving around singing together to their car stereo. At the end of the day, Willing to Stay is two young men doing what they love and doing it in a way that it can be shared with the rest of the world.
