Willow James is a Dallas-based trio that blends Americana, Blues, and Rock ‘n Roll sounds. Inspired by the likes of Kings of Leon, Bob Dylan, and Sturgill Simpson, the laid-back native-Texan group includes songwriter, lead vocalist/guitarist Dan O’Connell, bassist Joel Armstrong, and drummer/vocalist Nick Odom.
With performances at prominent venues around the Dallas-Fort Worth area including House of Blues Dallas, Live Oak Music Hall, Sundown at Granada and famous Deep Ellum haunts like Adair’s Saloon and Twilite Lounge, the trio is steadily gaining traction.
Through a mutual friend, Joel and Dan met in college and eventually moved in together. Countless afternoons were spent playing instruments and recording songs locked in the upstairs game room. After Dan received encouragement to continue pursuing songwriting by Mason Lankford of Folk Family Revival, Dan and Joel set out to create original music. After meeting Nick by chance through a close mutual friend, they asked Nick to join Willow James. With Nick, Joel and Dan providing their own unique blends of ideas and influences, they strive to form something authentic and new.
