"Review - 29"

Will’s EP, 29, falls into that generalised genre of Pop music (albeit with a touch of acoustica) but is by no means bubble-gum pop! The lyrics are soundly based and the introduction from the first few acoustic bars into a more formalised electric/percussive arrangement gives his tracks a certain edge. It is often hard, as a relative newcomer, to find a decent opening track, yet alone write one, but Will has placed “tonight’ in the forefront; luckily for him, this is a sound choice and draws one into the rest of the mini album. It would be amiss of me not to mention the arrangement of Urban Country, especially with regard to that percussion-very strong, rhythmic and all embracing. Overall, a great start for Will. - Indigo FM - Tony Bates

Bio

Described by Punk Globe magazine as an up and coming young Jeff Buckley, Will began singing seriously when he was just 6 years old and soon began doing so in competitions as part of a choir, then as a soloist. When he was just 14, he heard a song called Immune, by KT Tunstall (it was a bonus track on her first album) and the guitar on it inspired him to teach himself to play. Pretty soon, riffs and lyrics started coming into his head and he began writing songs. His tastes in music cover all genres but his strongest influences are Jeff Buckley and songwriters such as Michelle Branch and John Shanks . Now 18, Will has an impressive catalogue of original songs and has been playing gigs around Kent and in London for over 3 years. This year he has opened for The Duel and will be playing Kilburn and Hinckley Festivals. London Summer Jam described his music as "smooth pop with an edge" whilst RSM's review of his single Urban Country described Will as "like John Mayer but a bit more fun and a little less world-weary". Will believes the "edge" is important, that music your should contain part of your soul and his certainly does.
