Bio
Wilmott Redd was founded by Greg McKenzie and Bill Rodger in 2009. The name like the songs draws influence from a variety of sources, most of which are steeped in the social history of colonialism in North America.
Originating in Kitchener-Waterloo the pair worked hard to expand their presence. Once this goal had been achieved and the insular Guelph-Kitchener-Waterloo music scene had been navigated Redd relocated to Toronto.
Wilmott Redd believes in pushing the boundaries of the traditional roots of from which they come. Dichotomous vocal work and eclectic instrumentation creates the "Distorted Folk" sound that they have come to be know for.
The recent incorporation of bassist and percussionist Dan Ragula has signaled an amplification and professionalization that was unprecedented for the original two. Although Wilmott Redd is new to Toronto, their transition to the city has strengthened an already unwavering devotion to the creation of beautiful music and has instilled optimism for success.
