"WILSN - "Unmeet You""

There’s a lot of pop music that strives to be soulful but falls short. Yesterday, I posted a London singer who is one of the rare artists who actually gets it right and today, we are gifted with another. “Unmeet You” is the debut track from Melbourne singer WILSN, an energetic offering whose upbeat tempo is in contrast to the somber message she emphatically delivers. It’s an impressive introduction and one that definitely makes us excited to hear more. Listen to it below. - Pigeons & Planes

"WILSN - "Unmeet You""

Any kind of music with old-school-sounding soul within it is always worth a listen, and with “Unmeet You”, the roaring debut track from Melbourne’s WILSN, we’ve a track that’s definitely worth some attention. It packs a whole lot of punch, and with her commanding tone in it, some groovy guitars around her, and what energy-peaking chorus is induced from it all, “Unmeet You” is the kind of track that’s going to turn a lot of heads and please twice as many ears. Listen to it below. - Hilly Dilly

"Introducing: WILSN - Unmeet You"

Not typically a styling we over-do it with on here but when somethings as good as this debut track from Melbourne's WILSN, you just have to share it.

"Unmeet You" isn't exactly WILSN's debut but in terms of garnering attention it certainly is and what a way to break out. Old-school-new-school-soul vocals sounding as buttery and powerful as anything we've heard in a while and on the strength of the drum hits and groove of the guitar, we're sure this ones got legs. I can also see the Amy Winehouse comparisons coming whether, she likes it or not. - One For The People

"WILSN - "Walking For Days""

WILSN emerged in the musical world four months ago, and now with thousands of plays attached to her name, it’s looking like it was a fine decision for her to do just that. “Unmeet You“, her debut material of note, contained bluesy tones, rock orientations, and an overall groovy, classy, and utterly sexy soul sound, and it turned more than a few heads when it was released. The success of the track perhaps took the newcomer by a bit of surprise, but, now with praise secured under her potential-rich musical wings, she’s ready to unveil more material for all of us to love.

“Walking For Days” is the name of the new impressive piece WILSN is choosing to put out, and, throughout it, we uncover hints of what aesthetic the Melbourne native perhaps wants to have. Back on the track is her soul-laden rock sound, her inclusion of various, swinging instruments, and an ability to sound appealing as well as raw and even experimental. Not many female acts have the kind of style, sonically, as we hear here, and for that, we’re impressed all the more with WILSN’s work. She’s doing things her way, and her way sounds great. - Hilly Dilly

"Best New Music - Floating Points, WILSN, The Libertines and more"

WILSN might not yet be a household name, but there's every chance you've heard her debut single 'Unmeet You' at some stage over the past few months. We've played it a whole lot and it's the kinda track that jumps out at you every time you hear it. She keeps the irresistible soul pop bent going with her latest track 'Walking For Days' and again shows off her perfect, soulful voice. - Double J

"Best New Music - The Chemical Brothers, Lucy Rose, Dick Diver and more"

WILSN is a recent addition to the already thriving Melbourne funk and soul scene, but with a voice like hers, we don't think she's going to have any trouble standing out from the crowd. 'Unmeet You' has plenty of classic soul feel to it and, let's face it, we can all relate to wanting to "unmeet" someone. - Double J

"BEST SONGS SO FAR | 2015"

WILSN's "Unmeet You" must surely be garnering some label interest because it completely blew up when it first hit the net, and when you take into consideration her vocal resemblance to Amy Winehouse and ability to bring old school soul into the 21st century, she's definitely onto something. "Unmeet You" is buttery smooth and WILSN's powerful vocals form the perfect juxtaposition, teetering on the brink of fragility. The song is possibly the most infectious thing we've heard all year. - One For The People

"The mixtape: Joseph Tawadros, Fieldings, Ainslie Wills and more"

Forget neo-soul, this is old soul – the type that never goes out of style. Shannon Busch, aka WILSN, is a recent graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne and she’s pulled out a cracker of a debut song in Unmeet You. The song rides on an infectious groove with Busch showcasing the kind of husky vocals reminiscent of Dusty Springfield and Amy Winehouse – emotive but with a lightness of touch. And the perfectly tormented lyrics, centred around the memory of an ex-lover (“if I could just unmeet you”) sound like they’re lifted straight out of the torch singer’s textbook. - The Guardian

"5 Bands We Discovered This Month That You Need To Hear"

Definitely not new, but no question this girl is under-appreciated. ‘Unmeet You’ is one of the sweetest sounding jams to come out of Melbourne in a long time. It’s genuinely exciting to see Australia producing talent across the broad spectrum of musical taste.

We don’t have to keep going back to pub rock and Aussue hip-hop, as great as those sounds are. We can literally mix it with the best in the world regardless of style. WILSN has as good a soul sound as I’ve heard anywhere, and you’d be doing yourself no end of favours if this found its way into your daily playlist. - Tone Deaf

"NEW MUSIC // WILSN – Unmeet You"

Shannon Busch is a Melbourne based singer/songwriter that is bridging that gap between past and future soul and she’s doing it in style..

This new release named “Unmeet You” spills out vibrant, clean cut vocals as a walking bass line and that chirping guitar lead you into a smart, catchy chorus. This gal could be one to watch out for when she breaches from down under.. - Secret Scout

"The Autumn Roses - WILSN"

Resonant with Studio A sonics and propelled by Motown energy, “Walking For Days” is the muscular yet breezily-soulful new single from Melbourne’s WILSN. It sounds like love – of making music, of old records and their worn sleeves, or falling into it best of all. It’s full and pure, and an absolute joy. - The Autumn Roses

Bio

In April 2015, WILSN (Melbourne, AUS) played her first two shows supporting American soul legend, Charles Bradley, at the iconic Corner Hotel, and also released her first single: “Unmeet You”. Ten days, no paid publicity and 15,000 Soundcloud plays later, it had been added to radio rotation on Double J, Triple J Unearthed, ABC 774, with additional air play on Triple J, PBS, and various UK radio stations. It was organically featured on countless UK and US blogs including Pigeons and Planes, Hilly Dilly, and The Guardian.

September 2015 and WILSN returns with explosive energy on her second single “Walking For Days” which was premiered on Triple J radio, immediately added to full rotation on Double J Radio, Triple J Unearthed Radio and garnered 70,000 plays via Spotify in it’s first 2 weeks, which led to it coming in at number 6 in “Spotify’s Top 10 Most Viral Tracks” globally. WILSN was also deemed the winner of a Triple J Unearthed competition whereby NIDA film students produced and directed a film clip for her.

In November 2015 WILSN released her first EP “Don’t Give It Up” which includes tracks that feature horn arrangements written and performed by the horn section of Mark Ronson and Charles Bradley. The EP was premiered by US blog Hilly Dilly. Building on the attention WILSN has generated throughout the past 6 months, the artist finished off 2015 in stellar fashion as she was selected to receive a Music Works Quick Response Grant from the Victorian Government (AUS) for the purpose of traveling to the United States. WILSN visited New York in December 2015 to connect with US labels and agents.

It was during this US trip that “Walking For Days” was aired on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio by Ebro Darden (NY). With her EP now well over 600,000 plays on Spotify, she has recently signed a co-publishing deal with Pulse Recording (US) and Native Tongue Publishing (AUS).
