Biography

"What Wilson Empire communicates is a series of well-structured songs, backed by solid often inspired musicianship." Dean Poling Valdosta Daily Times........
Experiential, Spiritual, Moving, Thought-provoking music is what defines Wilson Empire. The captivating vocals of Jeremy Ezell, passionate guitars of Josh Lowe, Shaun Hoppers tasteful bass playing, and Ryan Grahams solid drumming present a musical ensemble reminiscent of the early days of Rockn Roll. Wilson Empire is a rock band in the truest sense, connecting to audiences of all generations and breaking down social barriers to bring their audience members together for a common purpose; music.

Wilson Empires live show carries comparisons to the early days of U2 with vocal likenesses to Jeff Buckley, Ed Kowalczyk (live), and Geddy Lee (Rush). W.E. independently released their first full-length album Characters of Real Life on January 27th, 2006 and has been touring almost non-stop in promotion of that release; playing for audiences from North Carolina to South Florida and everywhere in-between. The single Roah has received great radio support across the Southeast in major markets such as Atlanta, GA; Tallahassee, FL; and Nashville, TN.

Passion, hard work, and determination drive these four small town kids to excel. Boasting an eclectic style that enables them to play in almost any format from Acoustic Duos to full band electric rock shows without losing quality, Wilson Empire sustains a reputation for surpassing their recordings with their live performances. Wilson Empire is truly a band of influence and integrity. In a time of musical mediocrity, Wilson Empire reinstates a passionate spiritual experience for music lovers.

Lyrics

Roah

Written By: Jeremy Ezell

I'm all dressed up with no where to go
And my good luck got lost in the snow
And my great life is sitting on the brink
Of a mass extinctive power that seems to wanna take me out

I cry for Roah...
Cause Roah doesn't know my name

Something we could learn from the scene
Is that we all want to run from the truth
And our lives are sitting on the brink
Of a mass extinctive power that wants to drive our souls to the night

I cry for Roah...
Cause Roah doesn't know my name

I'm all dressed up with no where to go
And my good luck got lost in South Dakota
And my great life is sitting on the brink
Of a mass extinctive power that seems to want to take me out

I cry for Roah...
Cause Roah doesn't know my name

Still

Written By: Jeremy Ezell

I Turn the light out
And you turn the night on
Taken in by the darkest fever
Put your clothes on
And Take your mind off
And here we are already to go

I don't see how
You can say that..
Everytime I feel this way I am just saying
You're never angry
You never mean it
But your words mean everything to me

And we're Fallin' down
No don't make a sound
Don't you know the walls are listening
We push ourselves so far
Till we don't know who we are
And all that left is Still I love you

I'm diggin' way to deep
For something I won't keep
And it's not worth my energy to fight you
Defensiveness sets in and I know it's such a sin
When I leave you crying

And we're Fallin' down
No don't make a sound
Don't you know the walls are listening
We push ourselves so far
Till we don't know who we are
And all that left is Still I love you

Start Again

Written By: Jeremy Ezell

START AGAIN

From the feelings of the old you

you can't stop feeling that it's all new

and no one's seeing that it's not you

and everything is going to be OK

It's time you held it up to all you

know is true

that everything he's told to you

was just a lie

though it sounded good; Don't buy in

Believe me. Don't buy in...

just run away....and Start Again, Let's Start Again

with the pieces of a broken heart to fill

the orifice of every bleeding part of your

anatomy that can share

And feeling bare won't be the only

thing that scares you but I will be there for you

you know that Life could be so beautiful with me...

let's run away....and Start Again!

Forever won't be long enough to love you

No Forever won't be long enough for me.

Let's run away and Start Again...

Letters From Karen

Written By: Jeremy Ezell

A Screwtape letter hides in My MTV
And little Wormwood laughs at my knowledge of this.
A letter falls from your hand that writes so honestly
Your own demise Oh Nation of mine

This life is not free
I will not waste a moment

All of this hate could die with our generation
And end these foolish wars of pride, pride and greed
Your molten lies melt your swollen need
For something more than just your Sweet Sixteen…Oh Karen

This life is not free
It was given to me
I will not waste a moment

This life is not free
It was bled to me
I will not waste a moment

All of this hate could die
And end your Real World lies
As Screwtape letters hide
In Karen’s letters hide…

This life is not free
It was given to me
I will not waste a moment

This life is not free
It was bled to me
I will not waste a moment.

Dear MTV,
Screwtape and wormwood are characters in C.S. Lewis’s book ‘Screwtape letters”. I use them in the song metaphorically to parallel the demise of Mtv as a music television station into the Jerry Springer-esk poorly done reality TV show mess that it is today, with the Nation that accepts this mediocrity as culturally acceptable and even helps promote it. I love Pink’s new video…she is dead on!! We are turning into Stupid people…or better; the fact that we are where we are means we have probably been stupid for quite sometime. Letters from Karen speaks to the truth that we have been given this life and this great nation by the blood shed of past generations and we must keep their thoughts and ideals in mind to honor them. I wonder how they would view us as a people if they could see us now. Please tell Ashlee I said hey!!!

Love, Karen
