Bio

Wilson J. Hur has acquired the reputation of being one of the most talented and visible young soloist in the SW region. As a full time working musician, he has kept a busy schedule performing for up to 200 engagements a year. He has dazzled audiences with his emotionally charged and virtuoso performances, winning the favor of music connoisseurs and casual listeners a like. Wilson gained much attention when Tucson’s Casino del Sol featured him on a highly televised commercial airing in 2004. He was also the Casino’s House Guitarist at the Bellisimo for 4 years. Specializing in the Spanish Repertoire, his influences include; Andres Segovia, Julian Bream and Paco Pena, to name a few.

Educated at the highly ranked San Francisco Conservatory of Music Guitar Studio and the University of Arizona’s prestigious Guitar Studies Program, Wilson was under the direct guidance of world famous guitar giant, David Tanenbaum and Professor Tom Patterson. Other teacher luminaries include; David Russell, Dusan Bogdanovic, Marc Teicholz and Paul O’dette. He went on to receive the William Wolf Guitar Scholarship and was awarded in the Schaeffer Endowment Competition.

His repertoire of works range from the most cherished music of Bach, to the glories of the Guitar music of Andalusia, Spain, He is also well versed in the South American Guitar influenced styles like Choros, Columbianas, and Venezuelan Waltz.
