Bio
Windy Lawlor is a soulful acoustic singer/songwriter from the suburbs of Chicago. With a powerful voice, endearing lyrics, and an engaging personality, she’ll have you humming her songs in no time.
Windy is currently a sophomore vocal performance major at Columbia College. She has been playing the guitar and working towards expanding her knowledge of music theory for over four years. Some of her biggest musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Jack Johnson, and Fiest.
Initially, Windy began playing shows as a cover artist, covering some of the greatest rock songs ever written including Bob Dylan’s “Stuck in the Middle With You,” Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You," and Eric Clapton’s “Layla”. This summer (2008), Windy booked a series of Happy Hour shows, rotating through 3 Chicago bars, playing one 3 hour set every week (backed by bass and drums) - Currently, Windy is working on using her influences and experience as a cover artist to develop her own unique sound.
Windy has also been very active in the college music scene, performing at various open mic nights and Columbia College events. In the last year, she has played four Acoustic Kitchen events, The Beat Kitchen Open Mic, 2008 Rock the Vote, as well as an AIDS Marathon Benefit, World Aids Day and a Breast Cancer Benefit show.
Currently, Windy is looking to play as many shows as possible in and around Chicago (college campuses, bars, community events, etc).
