"Ethereal Journey by Winfield Davis"

Ethereal Journey is the 4th Winfield Davis CD to be showcased under the MTB Feature Artist spotlight, following up on his 3 previous efforts, C-Street, Midnight Player, and Bass and Beyond. This Sarasota/Bradenton smooth jazz master evokes a passion and pursuit of perfection that sets the standard for excellence among local talent. His music is a refreshing compliment to the music mix, providing balance and a dynamic that professionals and novices alike can appreciate. Winfield is a born-again jazz composer/performer who says "for many years other things came first (but) now, it's all about the music". A Winfield Davis video was recently posted to The Jazz Network Worldwide and can be seen at this LINK. For more info, check his website at http://www.winfielddavis.com - Music Tampa Bay

"Winfield Davis"

Winfield shows vitality and an artistry that opens up jazz palettes to new expressions and ideas, which are melodically glazed while steep in ingenuity. Sometimes new does not mean being avant garde, but having a freestyle that moves gracefully like Winfield Davis can do. Sounding new and modern can be just as persuasive as the standards do, without compromising ones graceful swagger and melodic intonations as this artist has shown in his music. - Jazz Radio at Live365.com
This is his fourth solo album and he continues to raise the bar. Fans and DJ's alike are raving about it. As one fan put it "very relaxing and smooth, love to just chill and listen to his music". Another writes, "I just love his music and it reminds me of Wayman Tisdale, just awesome" One DJ had this to say, " Please take a journey through the musical mind of Winfield Davis."

"Winfield Davis"

As the Manager/Owner of Maryland Recording and Rehearsal studios, I have met a lot of bands, more then I could count, as well as single artists. Most of the bands I have worked with, produced, recorded and heard, were pretty intense and professional. By far, <><><> The Winfield Davis Band <><><> has shown me, as well as many others here @Maryland Studios, a side to jazz like no other. Trust me! Winfield Davis has a style all his own, as his writing ability and composing insight, is in my opinion, off the charts! The musicians that surround him with their musical talent, ability, and love for the music they help bring to life, is like no other. If you want to see and hear a great jazz-fusion band, please go see, or take the time to sit down and listen to the Winfield Davis Band. You won’t be disappointed! - Gus Sequoia Owner/Manager Maryland Recording and Rehearsal Studios

"Bermuda jazzman is musical hit on Internet"

The jazz artist, a former drummer for Bermuda Regiment, is making a name for himself in the United States and across the world after his career took off through Internet radio.
He currently has two CDs out, on which all the tracks were composed, produced and performed by himself, and is planning to tour internationally to entertain fans of his recently-formed band.
Mr. Davis, 52, has made use of downloading hot spots such as My Space and iTunes, but it is online radio stations like City Sounds Radio, Music Tampa Bay and a station in Holland, which have been the springboard to his success.
"I was just so happy that someone was playing my music. That was the eye opener to the real power of the Internet," Bermudian Mr. Davis said in a Bradenton Herald newspaper interview about his career.
According to the article, the first hints of his obsession for music came when he used kitchen utensils as a makeshift drum kit as a very young child. By the age of ten he had graduated to a homemade guitar, before his mom bought him an acoustic guitar when he was 12.
Listening to R&B legends Earth, Wind and Fire and the likes of Johnny Mathis that helped shape his music style as the young Mr. Davis formed and joined bands including the Regiment's.
In the 1980s, he hooked up with a cabaret jazz show on the Island's hotel circuit, while performing on cruise ships during the off-season.
In his mid 30s, he left Bermuda for Bradenton, Florida, where his music career has continued with gigs and then the Internet with such hits as 'Midnight Prayer', 'C Street', 'Laylah's Theme' and 'West 59th Street'.
Rick Crandall, of Music Tampa Bay Internet radio station, told the Bradenton Herald: "He adds a touch of class to the music I've played on the website. I would certainly like to see him gain some recognition. I think what he does, he does exceptionally well."
Mr. Davis now believes the sky is the limit, telling the newspaper: "I'm not putting any boundaries to how far I can take this."

"CD REVIEW "C Street""

Winfield Davis is a Bassist, Guitarist, and Composer from
Florida whose music combines promise and direction. His
latest CD titled "C Street" has been a hot play on City Sounds
radio.
It is very innovative Jazz Funk, with a mixture of Smooth Jazz.
If you listen to the title track, you will hear the soul of the artist.
Winfield told me that C Street is an area in Bermuda (he was
born there) that any and all musicians should play their music.
Once a club district, it has apparently dissipated in size.
You can hear the many influences of music styles that have
encompassed his 20 + years of music exploration. Just listen to
the song "East To Exotica". It has the feel of a jazzy, Asian
culture experience. It would be in comparison to a song coming
from the band Hiroshima. Very exotic.
My favorite tune off the CD comes on track 8 and it is titled
"Live Your Life". This song has a smooth flowing melody and
I believe could be on the Smooth Jazz Charts. A Masterwork.
The rest of the tracks on the CD are also reflections of
Winfield's time spent "hearing it, and feeling it". Overall, the
album has a blend of music that will keep your ears pleased. I
look forward to many more releases from him.

Bio

When he was ten years old, Winfield wanted so badly to make music that he built his own guitar. That determination and creativity drove the Bermuda born musician (who lived alternately in Ohio) to become a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer, later performing with top acts in Bermuda’s thriving hotel nightclub culture. After moving to Florida, Davis whose main instrument is bass actively partook of the Suncoast music scene, including performing with the popular dance band Ozone. After a brief break, Davis amazingly released two original smooth “Nu” Jazz albums in one year. The First album “Midnight Player” released in August 2007 and the second “C Street” in February 2008. Most Impressive is Davis composing all the music, playing all the Instruments, recording and mastering both albums with in one year, truly amazing. The future looks very bright for this gifted, and worldly artist.
