"Listen to Mayfair by Australian brother/sister duo Winters End:"

A bit late on this one but, thanks to UK music site PressPlay’s knack for digging up great music, we’ve finally stumbled across the work of Sydney brother and sister duo Marissa and Christopher Pinto – aka Winters End.

The siblings have been performing together since 2012 and Mayfair came out last month as the follow up to their 2014 single Walls. It’s a superb piece of heightened indietronica that’s laced with nostalgia and brimming with emotion, and a surefire way to get you hooked in to hunting down their back catalogue.

The Pintos are currently mid-way through an Australian tour which will keep them on the live circuit through to December. Dates and venues can be found on their official website.

Download Mayfair now or catch the track below. - Chart Shaker (NZ)

"UPCOMING: Winters End"

Winters End have been around for a while, but we’re marking them as Upcoming because they finally seem to be coming into their own. How? With tracks like Mayfair (which we’re guessing isn’t about the cigs), a pounding alt-pop track from Chris and Marissa Pinto, with a soaring, epic vocal from the latter. Well worth your time. - PressPlay OK (UK)

"The Matinee September 22"

The cinematic music continues with the new single by Sydney do Winters End. Composed of siblings Marissa and Christopher Pinto, Winters End have recently released their new single “Mayfair” – a cataclysmic indie-rock track layered with synthesizer, crystalline guitar, and Marissa’s soaring and heart-pounding vocals. It’s a song that resonates with the power ballads of the late ’80s and early ’90s – think Roxette, but edgier and even more euphoric.

The duo will be touring around Australia in support of “Mayfair”. Check tour dates here. - The Revue (Canada)

"First Signs of Love No. 169 Winters End"

This week’s First Signs of Love comes from Sydney, Australia.
Comprised of siblings Marissa and Christopher Pinto Winters End are an indie, electronic band. Formed in October 2011, the brilliant Mayfair is their follow-up release to their critically acclaimed 2014 single Walls. It’s 80’s tinged sound made us want to hear Kate Bush ‘Running Up That Hill.’ Mayfair was recorded with producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, The Whitlams, The Vines) at Jungle Studios in Sydney.
The single has already received radio play in the USA on college radio, FBi radio, Triple M Sydney, and radio 2SER, Sydney. Listen out for it on this week’s Lost On Radio Podcast. The show is available for free on iTunes, aCast, Overcast, Tunein Radio and also broadcast via 7 radio stations in 5 different countries. (UK, US, Canada, Australia & New Zealand). - Right Chord Music (UK)

"September 11 2015 - Hot Top Ten"

Rumbling drums give this new single by electronic indie sibling duo Chris (drums) and Marissa (vocals, synth, guitar/bass) Pinto from Sydney's eastern Surry Hills 'burbs, an ominous air. Think: a tribal London Grammar. - Little Indie Blogs (UK)

"Lots of New Discoveries..."

Last but not least, only right that I feature some new music that I've discovered since I've been in Australia. This duo might have come about at just the perfect time - with Haim sort of off the map and London Grammar too, there aren't many bands in the spotlight that sound like them (and I'm still waiting on The Night VI's record). I digress, Winters End have huge potential and the kind of sound that could fill arenas! Their single "Mayfair" is an anthem - thumping drums and soaring vocals, it's definitely not the kind of song you could just ignore. I really hope that this makes a mark over across the Atlantic. - Blog (Comma) Music (UK)

"New Music: WINTERS END – “Mayfair” (Indie Electronic Pop / Rock)"

Winters End (Sydney, Australia) hit me right where my heart is with their new track “Mayfair”. Siblings, Christopher and Marissa Pinto make up the duo of Winters End. Their sound is like a split between The Jezebels and Eliot Sumner. - Indie Underground (Canada)

"Winters End - Mayfair"

News from Australia with a novelty of the brother-sister duo Marissa and Christopher Pinto. There is a year Winters End drew attention with Walls. This time, the duo returns with the piece Mayfair. Nothing has changed; it's always good to electro-indie. An epic ballad ... the sounds of the 80's assured voice Marissa wife wonderfully guitar and drums. From the solid and catchy pop. - El Tino (Canada)

"Your Weekend Listening Upgrade: Winters End - Mayfair"

Their Bio informs us of the following - Comprised of siblings Marissa and Christopher Pinto Winters End are a Sydney-based indie, electronic band. Formed in October 2011their follow-up release to their debut EP Staircase (2012) was their single Walls.

Released in July 2014 Walls received plays extensively by community radio stations Australia wide, and also received airplay on FBi radio and Triple M in Sydney. Walls continues to be played internationally in the UK, Netherlands, USA and Canada. Walls' success also saw Winters End invited to perform at two international music festivals in Canada and LA in October and November 2014.

Winters End are back and ready for 2015. Their 80s-inspired electronic sounds encompass all tastes and all ages. Make sure you seize your chance to see this dynamic sibling-duo while they're back home in Sydney! They are undertaking a national tour between September and December.

This is a powerful and stirring song. Others have likened Winters End to Florence and The Machine, MS MR, and The XX, a reasonable enough viewpoint, however I reckon this song stands on it's own strength, one that deserves much wider attention. - Beehive Candy (UK)

"Winters End"

Year ago I did take hard look on Sydney-based good egg duo Winters End and their debut single, Walls, and year ago I did trespass Mayfair, London via Marble Arch, but that's not the point. Winters End might seem subsided all this time, however the new single, Mayfair that dropped days ago, rings for the new sort of rapture. You'll get stuck in this mesmerizing tune whos skyline intro is filled with sunset gamut and Marissa's hauntingly dashing vocals topping festival-core live drums and guitars. It just goes for the win without saying too much. - Cloudberry Mornings/Click and Listen It (Latvia)

"Track Review - Mayfair by Winters End"

The sibling band Winter’s End is comprised of Marissa and Christopher Pinto, an indie-electronic duo from Sydney who already display remarkable promise in their artistic endeavours. Formed in October of 2011, the group has rocketed to success in terms of recognition in the music world; playing at international music festivals and the release of their single “Walls” ranking #1 in the Overall Triple J Unearthed top 100 chart.

The members of Winter’s End continue to strive for musical excellence. Their newly released track “Mayfair” accurately reflects intensity and feelings of entrapment coinciding with an emotionally heightened situation. The powerful swell of music, fierce beating of drums and lush harmonies create an exceptionally beautiful song, one that is both overwhelming and moving. The track gives rise to emotions that may have previously lain dormant, as well as taking listeners on their own visual and auditory journey.

“Mayfair” is a daring, vibrant success. Have a listen today. - OPJAM (Canada)

"New Single Winters End"

Winters End is an Australian Indie rock duo came from Sydney. The group consists of the twins Marissa and Christopher Pinto. In 2014 the band released the song "Walls" from which the international got some attention, but not very much. With the new single "Mayfair" this could be sometimes different. The song is by producing new Lachlan Mitchell who previously was the producer of all The Jezabels. That is also clearly audible on this single line, so it has an equally bombastic sound like The Jezabels too. So start with a dark building and ending in a sharp tone with high female voice. For now nothing is known of any album / EP, but we already hope for more of this. - Dansende Beren (The Netherlands)

"Click and listen it Winters End"

I need something to purify my thoughts, something to cut out of my mind those painful visions of deserved lifetime-long desire, something to tumble down the walls one has build in my way. It would take ages finding the right solution I feel, but this is wintery state of mind. Guess, and neither this is correct time to think about winter by no means (polysemously meant), however if someone would say winters end, I would accept to chat about that willingly. I need that a lot.

Australia has always been one of my most craved destinations to go, and since I dug Winters End, duo from Sydney, I do it now even more heatedly. Parchedbecames, noble cities, blue waters all around the coastline and vibrating life all within. Before aptitude of heart-surprising visions became apparent, Winters End surprised me in so many ways. Bloodline story* and some shades of Evokateur and Funeral Club as one side, while the other one takes significant differences like limpid and on-going vocals, jaunty rock taste and, yes, rough yet nifty looks. That all may mislead, but don't worry. Aftermath of this is that instantly growing future act playing off the heard and something big, the mix can easily change an average day into splendid one. - Click and listen it

"Winters Walls review"

Sydeny-based sibling duo Winters End formed back in 2012 and are made up of Marissa and Christopher Pinto. The two piece create infectious indie-electro tracks and have been working on solidifying their sound for the past few years. They just released their brand new single titled “Walls” on July 21st which was recorded at Jim Moginie’s Oceanic Studios.

“Walls” is a track that will hook you in seconds as it wastes no time to get started. Upbeat piano chords work seamlessly alongside expressive drumming, as both melodic elements are backed by the soulful vocals of Marissa. The melody may not be the most complex of things, but it really comes together within the chorus, oozing energy and dominance. The simplicity of these two driving elements work better together than I ever thought they would, and they create a solid foundation for the track. The heartfelt vocals weave their way in and out of the track highlighting the bands talent for storytelling. Overall “Walls” is a very promising track that is sure to put Winters End on the map for all of the right reasons.

Overall Rating: 4/5

You can check out the video for “Walls” below, and keep up to date with Winters End on Facebook and Twitter. - Mistree magazine

"Winters End - Walls"

A brother-sister duo. Marissa and Christopher Pinto. They settled in Sydney (Australia) and have created the project Winters End in 2012. duo worked hard to get to this new single a brilliant pop entitled Walls.

Band indie to electro, Winters End Walls offers with fresh music and driven by the crystalline voice of Marissa and guitars in support.

Winters End plays in the courtyard of Coldplay and Keane. Certainly, everyone has fun ... Below, Walls and clip posted there three days. Sunny and furious. - El Tino

"Winters End’s ‘Walls’ Channels Keane, Coldplay and 80s Pop"

Winters End is Sydney siblings Marissa and Chris Pinto.

The duo are set to release their new track Walls next week.

A high energy indie pop track that will remind you of Coldplay and especially of Keane and 80s indie pop.

The what becomes clear when you hear some of their earlier work – Joke, for example, practically relishes in its early 80s electro pop cool, coming on like a slightly less arch Yazoo while somehow at the same time being massively up. Meet You There, meanwhile, is a piano-drive indie pop track which once again proudly wears it’s Keane influences.

There’s something immediately and massively likeable about this pair – probably that while they sound like a lot of other acts, there is a clear love of what they do. - Deadly Music ear gravy

"Obligatory Record Of The Day! Winters End - Walls"

You should never judge a book by its cover, or so the saying goes. There's nothing at all wrong with the artwork to this new single by Sydney duo Winters End however, but that expression could just as easily apply to forming an opinion about a song by a solitary listen or even just the first few bars. This isn't to say that there's anything particularly bad about 'Walls', but it could definitely be labelled as a grower, and not only that, but the first few bars do belie what a terrific pop record this actually is. Daytime radio piano and clean production are rarely likely to get the pulses racing, unless your idea of excitement is Keane at their most safe.

Just wait though, because that intro leads somewhere, and it's somewhere quite special. True, the easy nature of the track could lend itself to a certain commercial appeal, but if the charts were filled with songs this good then the world would be a better place, so let's hope that fame and fortune awaits Winters End, because at least they offer something worthwhile. The vocals are a natural focal point, being strong and powerful, especially when they hit that chorus, and it's the chorus that takes this slightly alternative indie/pop tune and elevates it to a new level. Sure, there's a slight power ballad vibe on occasion, but we're looking at a highly likable track here. 'Walls' has the potential to become a radio staple and set this pair on the road to success; this is a big song, and its creators deserve to become a notable musical force too. - Sound of Confusion

"Winters End Walls Corelwave"

Listening to Walls, we imagine Coldplay and Keane remake the world with Patti Smith. Heavy weight to carry so for this family affair which is the duo Indie Winters End. The piece combines a tasty voice recalling the famous icon Rock singing Because The Night with a light piano melody, held by a constant rhythmic Indie. Children an Australian indie scene with artists such as Lyke Giants or Covers , and Marissa Chris Pinto are doing wonderfully in delivering a tasty and interesting musical universe, leaving the guitars to highlight the piano in all its forms. A group to follow, as well as its stage. - Corelwave

"New Music Video Winters End Walls"

Winter’s End – “Walls”

Marissa and Christopher Pinto, the Sydney based brother and sister duo, Winter’s End, cite Coldplay and Keane as influences and on their latest single, “Walls,” they do indeed go full on Britpop. Sounding like Travis fronted by Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries, Winter’s End have a gift for infectious, ringing melodies even as the song deals with the melancholy theme of unrequited love. “Walls” is an absolute hidden gem of a song you’ll be glad to have unearthed. - Fuzzyheadphones

"New Music Video Winters End Walls"

Sydney sibling duo Winters End make crafty pop that is delicate yet strong in its own right, and “Walls” is the kind of song that deserves to be somewhere on the popular pop charts, trust me on this. You’ll hear this and go “how come this isn’t the song of the summer?” It should be. The single will be released on July 21st. - This is Book's Music

"Winters End Walls"

Winters End will be releasing their new single on July 21. Upon first listen, I loved the track. I seriously dig that in the beginning of the track you can hear the drums and the piano (it’s a majestic duo). Marissa Pinto’s vocals seem to have the same vocal range as Florence Welch, and those are a set of power vocal chords. The musical arrangement is simply superb on this track. - Abduction Radiation

Bio

Music runs in the blood of the siblings that are Winters End. The Sydney-based duo are multi-instrumentalist Marissa Pinto and percussionist Christopher Pinto. Since Winters End’s inception in 2011, their genre has been described as an 80’s- influenced mixture of indie, pop, and electronic music. Tone Deaf Australia describes Winters End as having "a sound that is incredibly dynamic and forward thinking in its grandeur”.

Winters End’s 2015 single “Mayfair” was recently awarded International Song of the Year at the 2016 Music Oz Australian Independent Music Awards. “Mayfair” took the band on their first national Australian tour, in 2015. Almost concurrently, “Walls” (a 2014 release), was internationally recognized and the band toured overseas performing at You Bloom Festival (Los Angeles, California) and Indie Week Music Festival (Toronto, Canada) as well as performing side shows at both festivals.

Winters End’s noise-creating singles “Walls” and “Mayfair” have had their video clips spun on MTV Australia’s Upload, with both singles ranked number 1 on Triple J Unearthed and Reverbnation.

With their new single currently in production with Lachlan Mitchell of Parliament Studios, the band are scheduled to tour nationally upon its release. This single, a follow-up to the expansive track “Mayfair” has seen Winters End develop a sound that has been difficult to categorise. To remedy this Winters End have self-named their genre. Their emerging work exists now under the genre of “Cloud Pop”, defined as an atmospheric sound featuring dark beautiful chords, emotive vocals, backed with expansive drumming and resulting in music that fills every corner of the room, much the way clouds fill the sky. Check out Winters End on Social Media for a peek at their in-studio footage!

One of the most featured unsigned Australian bands, Winters End continue to receive community radio play and write ups in publications across the globe. Determined to live their dream of sharing their music, especially through live performance, the pair are consistently working on new music to further cement their presence both locally and internationally

"It's no wonder these two have recently been playing across the US, because if they keep making these kind of sounds hopefully Winters End have a lot of playing, recording and touring ahead of them" It's My Kind of Scene (AU). Suffice to say, there's a lot more yet to come from Winters End.
