With An Orange

With An Orange

BandRockPop

Ukulele-driven indie rock with tightly engineered harmonies, unabashed lyrics, and dance-ready beats, adventurously genre hopping between and often times within songs.

Biography

Described as ukulele-driven indie rock with tightly engineered harmonies, unabashed lyrics, and dance-ready beats, With An Orange consists of Wes McGuffey (Ukulele, Vocals, Guitar), Johnny Jeffers (Bass, Vocals, Guitar), James Power Allen (Guitar), and Austen Ross (Drums, Vocals).

Founders Wes and Johnny grew up playing and writing music on the same street in Amarillo, TX. After landing in Austin, the pair met Ross, igniting new experimentation with sound and instrumentation. With the addition of James Power Allen, With An Orange came to fruition.

The project gains distinction through the use of the ukulele as the principal writing instrument. Wes explains, "After a while, writing on the guitar became uninspiring and my uke has always been a source of fresh ideas.” This is apparent on the band’s debut EP, More Than We Should Have on Dabo Records. Upbeat tracks “Away We Go” and “Adieu” deliver strong rhythms and soaring harmonies, while each individual track contributes balance and substance to the overall sound.
