Bio
After leaving the NYC noise pop band Poem Rocket in 1996, singer/guitarist Dennis Bass spent some time in rehab kicking the effects and noise monkey. Once the shakes subsided, he spent a few years penning his dark, brooding songs on an acoustic in his bedroom.
Emerging into daylight, Bass met Brady Wetherington (bass) in a server room, and the two spent a few years on and off (mostly off) trying to shape some of Bass’ songs into a rock format. In 2003, Tim Porter, then vocalist and guitarist for the dark and noisy Mcallister, took pity on the half-band (now calling themselves Within Reason), and joined on guitar to boost the sonic spectrum. With Tim’s layers of texture and depth, all that was missing was a drummer. The band stumbled on Chris Vallozzi in February 2004, and his driving beats and tireless verve provided Within Reason with the last vital ingredient required to play live.
Within Reason’s inaugural stage performance took place at NYC’s Siberia in April 2004. The band has since played the Continental, and Arlene’s Grocery, Pianos, the Trashbar, The Backroom, Lit Lounge, and the Pussycat Lounge.
In June 2005 Within Reason released it’s first recording, the 4 song EP - Pocketful of Air
