"Can You Dig It? That "Steventies" Show Gets Ready To Groove"

First he “Raised the Roof” with Broadway 25 musical revues. Now Steve SanSoucie is getting ready to tear the roof off the place with his groovy new 70s-inspired revue, “That ‘Steventies’ Show” on September 20th at The Center for Arts in Natick, MA. Backed by a five-piece band, including Rob Wendel as pianist/music director, SanSoucie will take the audience on a journey through some of the greatest hits of the decade that brought us Watergate, feathered hair, and platform shoes.

SanSoucie might have been just a small kid during much of the 70s, but he grew to become a huge fan of musical icons like Donna Summer and Elton John. SanSoucie says “Who doesn’t want to dance when you hear ‘Do the Hustle!’? To me, the 70’s had an explosion of quality music. It was full of legendary musicians and musical creativity”.

The 90-minute show will feature a host of favorites from the likes of The Beatles, Donna Summer, The Carpenters, Billy Joel, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Jackson Five, The Partridge Family, Elton John, Jim Croce, and James Taylor. SanSoucie plans to sing a few medleys, as well as offer his own two cents on the cryptic lyrics of “MacArthur Park.” He also slyly mentions a musical surprise that will really rock the audience.

SanSoucie normally performs with the sole accompaniment of Wendel on piano, but for “That ‘Steventies’ Show,” they’re calling for more backup. Wendel will be joined by Daniel Bennett on saxophone, Randy Cloutier on drums, Kevin Coyne on lead guitar, and Lee Whalen on bass guitar. Wendel says "I'm totally thrilled to arrange for, and perform with a full ensemble, especially after just music directing Cabaret, complete with raucous, jazzy pit orchestra. The performance will not exactly be 'cover' renditions, and will allow for much on-the-spot improvisation and stylization."

Break out the polyester pant suit and join SanSoucie for a far-out night that you won’t soon forget! Tickets are $20 per person, $18 for seniors and students. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Show starts at 7:30 pm.

""Cheer Up Sleepy Jean" - SanSoucie is Back!"

Cheer Up, Sleepy Jean:
SanSoucie Is Back with New Revue, “Daydream Believer”

Some people don’t ever truly figure out what they want to be when they grow up. But
for Steven SanSoucie, there was never a question. “I always knew I wanted to be an entertainer,” he says, citing classic television shows like “The Monkees” and “The Partridge Family” as inspiration for singing in front of the mirror as a young, polyester-clad boy during the 70s.

Lucky for the rest of us, SanSoucie has grown up and decided to share his talents with the rest of us. A noted performer throughout New England, SanSoucie is gearing up to bring his Boston-area fans his latest installment, “Daydream Believer.”
“Daydream Believer” is not only the title of one of SanSoucie’s favorite Monkees songs (which is part of the show’s playlist), but it also represents his quest to become a professional entertainer. A career in entertainment, however, was just a pipe dream until he met musician Rob Wendel, who, according to SanSoucie, “brought my musical dream to life.” The duo has performed throughout the Boston area and in Ogunquit, Maine.

SanSoucie is known for his rollicking musical theatre revues, but as child of the 70s, he is returning to his roots and dusting off some classic vinyl sounds—with his and Wendel’s own spin, of course. Songs from Elton John, Billy Joel, The Beatles, and yes, the Monkees, figure prominently in the song list, but SanSoucie reaches even further back into the 60s and pulls out a generous helping of Burt Bacharach, the Four Seasons, and Motown.

“The hardest part of planning this show is what songs NOT to put in it,” says SanSoucie. After all, the challenge of cramming two of the richest decades of music into a 90-minute show is a bit daunting. Lucky for him and Wendel, “The songs quickly fell into place, and the show will flow from decade to decade offering a full variety of the time period represented.” And just as he has done previously, SanSoucie slyly refers to a few musical “surprises,” which can only mean a mashup of songs that show off his comedic talents as well as his musical ones.

SanSoucie will be accompanied by Wendel on piano, as well as the band that helped make “That ‘Steventies’ Show” such a resounding success. SanSoucie will also be joined by backup vocalists Keri Boisclair, Robin Burrage, Elana Marsh, and Jill Stewart.

“Daydream Believer” will be performed at 7:30 PM on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street in Watertown; doors open at 7 PM. Tickets are $20 General / $18 Senior & Student and can be reserved at www.daydreambelievershow.com.
