Dolly's Diner

Written By: Marie Trontell and Dave Sherman

This wasn't what I bargained for when we planned to wed
We'd spend our lives together
sleep together in our bed
Now I work in Sante Fe
and you're back in St Paul
God knows we need the money
after all

We cruised until the plant closed
then we hit the skids
I couldn't find another job
you couldn't leave the kids
Every week we lived on less
'till there was nothing left.
Our loving was the only thing
we kept.

Now I'll keep on working here
and try to still my mind;
not think of what I'm doing
or the life I left behind.
I'll do the job I promised to
and when work is done,
I'll stop at Dolly's Diner
let the waitress call me "Hon"
I'll stop in at the diner
need someone to call me "Hon"

My cousin helped me get this job
I hate it but it pays
it's not exactly legal
but it seemed the only way.
When I can save a little more
I'll quit and send for you-
re-create the life that
we once knew

Now I'll keep on working here
and try to still my mind.
not think of what I'm doing
or the life I left behind.
I'll do the job I promised to
and when work is done,
I'll stop at Dolly's Diner
let the waitress call me "Hon"
I'll stop in at the diner
need someone to call me "Hon"

I'm not the man I used to be
it worries me to say.
I like the old one better
and fear you'll do the same.
My heart still longs for you
and I hope that is enough,
and that I haven't changed
too much to love.

Now I'll keep on working here
and try to still my mind.
Not think of what I'm doing
or the life I left behind.
I'll do the job I promised to
and when work is done
I'll stop at Dolly's Diner
let the waitress call me "Hon"
I'll stop in at the diner
need someone to call me "Hon"

Sometimes

Written By: Paul Adams

Lots of reasons in my mind
lots of seasons in my soul
I could leave 'em all behind
if only I'd control
my ned to have an answer
my need to understand
my tendency to see a beach
in a single grain of sand.

Sometimes there is no answer
sometimes we just don't know
sometimes the only answer
is just to let it go

Was a time I thought what mattered
was living for today
but with no trust in my tomorrow
I never find my way.
Don't need to have an answer
don't need to understand
everything I'll ever need
I'm holding in my hands.

sometimes there is no answer
sometimes we just don't know
sometimes the only answer
is just to let it go.
Sometimes there is no answer
sometimes we just don't know
sometimes the only answer
is just to let it go.

My mind does tend to wander
my sould wold like to go
It's my heart that keeps me there
'cause love is all I know
Sometimes there is no answer
sometimes we just don't know
some time is all it takes to reap
reap the seed you sow

Sometimes there is no answer
sometimes we just don't know
sometimes the only answer
is just to let it go
Sometimes there is no answer
sometimes we just don't know
sometimes the only answer
is just to let it go
just to let it go
just to let it go.

Maybe I'll Stay

Written By: Marie Trontell and Dave Sherman

I'm going to the islands
for a little time away
from traffic jams and deadlines
a hundred calls a day
everybody needing me
way too much to do
I need to escape
for a week or two

Dreams of tomorrow
take me away
when crashing waves speak,
maybe I'll stay
when rustling leaves call
maybe I'll stay
when daylight leaves......

I want to find a paradise
where I don't have to think
and ice and umbrellas
are only in drinks
where the sun sets late
and nights are not too long
and I'm living
a Jimmy Buffett song

Dreams of tomorrow
take me away
when crashing waves speak
maybe I'll stay
when rustling leaves call
maybe I'll stay
when daylight leaves.........

I'll wake to parrots in the trees
and sunlight on the flowers
stay in bed till noon
read and dream for hours
wander with tourists
on endless miles of beach
learn the lessons
tides try to teach

I'll snorkel with the fish
listen to my breath
drift in balmy waters
know that I'm blessed
find the self I used to be
hidden in the sand
buried treasure
in my hands

Dreams of tomorrow
take me away
when crashing waves speak
maybe I'll stay
when rustling leaves call
maybe I'll stay
when daylight leaves
maybe I'll stay
