"Anne’s Shore & More #136 – Mar 27 2014"

On Saturday night, you can witness the debut of a brand new New London band called Wolfghost (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wolfghost). (It’s a bit ironic that their show coincides with stories about wolf-dog hybrids menacing people and livestock in nearby towns, but I’m sure they didn’t plan it that way.) This might be Wolfghost’s first show, but the individual band members are no strangers to the local music scene. The band members are Joey Royale on vocals (The Lonesome Doves, the Royale Brothers, Get Haunted, Full Moon Jamboree), Bobby Crash on drums (the Royale Brothers, Burnouts From Outer Space), Dave Anderson on bass (Paul Brockett Roadshow, Full Moon Jamboree), and Mike Desmond on guitar. If you want to check out Wolfghost ahead of time, they have a two song demo on Bandcamp at http://wolfghost13.bandcamp.com/album/demo. They are calling it “heavy stuff”, which it definitely is! Problem With Dragons (https://www.facebook.com/problemwithdragons) will open the show at 10 pm, followed by Wolfghost, and then local heavy/doom/sludge duo Bedroom Rehab Corporation (https://www.facebook.com/BedroomRehabCorporation) will close the show. I hear that Bedroom Rehab Corporation will be switching up their set and playing some new songs at this show. In the past, their live set was concentrated on songs from their “Red Over Red” but they have a lot of new songs that they will hopefully be recording later this year. Problem With Dragons, a trio from Easthampton MA, will be making their second appearance in New London at 33. They have also played shows with Bedroom Rehab Corporation before, which makes sense as the two bands are a natural fit. I think the word of the evening will be “heavy”. Cover is $5 and the show starts at 10 pm. - Localbandreview.com Anne Castellano

"33 Club Welcomes Wolfghost"

Given the thousands of genres and subgenres critics and bands have increasingly come up with to describe different types of rock, when was the last time you heard an act described as "American rock and roll"?

I'm not sure I even know what that means anymore - but I like the idea of it.

Prepare, then, for a new band promising to bring American rock and roll to the 33 Club in New London Saturday. Wolfghost is the act and, inasmuch as they're comprised of local all-stars Dave Anderson, Joey Royale, Bobby Crash and Mike Desmond, the outlook is damned promising.

Throw the always bad-ass Bedroom Rehab Corporation into the mix, along with Easthampton's Problem With Fragons, and you've got a great night of rock - American or otherwise.

Bio

Don't waste your time trying to classify or contain these rocking raconteurs collectively known as Wolfghost.  Mike Desmond (Living Syndication, Cold Shadow) unabashedly shreds six strings in a manner you haven't heard since you were hanging out in parking lots in a back-patched jean jacket.  Bobby Crash (Royale Brothers, Burnouts From Outer Space) on drums and Dave Anderson (Paul Brockett Roadshow) on bass provide a sonic spine that will make you simultaneously bang your head and shake your tail.  All the while, Joey Royale (Get Haunted, Royale Brothers) delivers a serpent's sermon conjuring spirits from the cobwebbed crypt of rock and roll.
