Bio

World-renowned traditional Native American flute performer and educator, Wolfs Robe has built a reputation for his lyrical sound that is solidly rooted in the traditional flute style of the Native elders. From his release of his first album, With Sacred Breath in 2003, Wolfs Robe has captured audiences around the globe with his pure sound and intricate flute melodies. A three-time Native American Music Awards (NAMA) nominee, his album Ancient Dreams is by far his best performance. Ancient Dreams honors the Ancient Peoples of the South West so that their Spirit may continue to teach and guide us. The album features replica flutes from the Ancestral Pueblo (Anisazi) people, a bone flute from the 300 A.D. to 600 A.D. period and an actual antique river cane flute from the 1700s.

Calmingly beautiful, his flute sounds weave delicate melodies and improvisation into a landscape of nature and preservation of the Native American culture. Stemming from a commitment to the preservation of the Native American flute as well as his own ancestral connections, Wolfs Robe’s work has been credited with helping to keep alive the art of traditional flute music. With his new release Solo Flight he is continuing his path toward spiritual and cultural discovery while expanding the boundaries of his creative vision.

“Our Native culture is like a delicate weaving, with each strand representing a part of our world. The flute is just one of those strands. If you cut just one strand, over time you will lose the entire weaving, so I strive to keep this part of our Native culture alive, evolving, and intact. I wish to share it with the world,” says Wolfs Robe.
