WONKACHiLD is not just a show-stopping virtuoso with raw talent, his charismatic stage presence, fearless showmanship, and captivating charm makes him an innovative, cross-platform musical fusion of something familiar mixed with something no one has ever seen.

Born and raised in Kansas City, MO — the home of BBQ & Blues — Wonkachild was raised on the jingles of live jazz music, funk, doo-wop, R&B, 1950s alternative rock, and hip-hop. An ageless collection of genres from which his sound is inspired causes what some refer to as ‘The Wonkachild Effect,’ where people of all ages groove in agreement that dancing is indeed necessary – his high energy shows even include him leaping from stages and break-dancing on dinner tables.

Consistently developing and enhancing in songwriting, music production, live performance, and choreography, his drive and work ethic are unparalleled, giving him an iron-will to push past his own limits (a trait that most entertainers lack today). “I have always been deeply interested in the creative ‘how-to’ of things.” says Wonkachild. “Since the age of 5, I was the kid who, when no one knew or would care to teach me how, would always ended up teaching myself how to explore new creative outlets through continuous practice. While other kids were playing outside during recess, I was busy making up new dance moves, writing, and reading how-to books. It never felt boring or like work doing these things, because it is what I still absolutely love doing. Don’t get me wrong, I love to act silly and fly spaceships, but I also love to create new ideas. While I believe everyone has talent, I am determined to be a part of the few who are actually skilled and pass it along to generations hereafter.”

Having always been a natural performer, Wonkachild waited until 2007, his sophomore year of college, to bring his musical alter ego to life. “Image is everything, and with that in mind, I wanted to, first, become free-minded with the stage and who I am as an entertainer while somewhat understanding the common traits and ‘IT factor’ of major musical artists. I have also been seeing the similar parallels of popular music [as a whole] with other pop-culture art forms such as theatre, video games, pop surrealism, architecture, film, and fashion. There is a definite relationship between various art forms and with music. I want to showcase how they relate in the MOST FUNKY and ENTERTAINING way possible.

On August 29th, 2009, Wonkachild digitally released “Urkel,” his first studio album via iTunes and Amazon. The album, adorned by fans from Los Angeles to London, showcases a wide array of styles which delivers a FUN randomness which ironically gives listeners a fresh unexpected and unpredictable musical experience similar (but separate) to the likes of Prince, Andre 3000, James Brown, and The Fresh Prince. However, underneath the classic dance rhythms and contemporary hip-hopesque 808s, lies a refreshing lyrical wordplay infused with the subliminal message of “confident cool.”

Wonkachild is not an artist of the moment, he’s an unstoppable force who gives crowds a fun, raw, and highly energetic show that will stick in audiences’ minds for years to come.
