"Six Years in the Making"

"...gorgeous psych-rock worthy of San Francisco's golden age.", "It seems they (Wooden Finger) didn't want to wait six more years to shame The Decemberist's and Arcade Fire." -J.R. Taylor
- The Birmingham Black & White

"A True Southern Gothic"

“...songs as sad and haunting as ghosts rising from the delta... there is a distinctly Southern sadness in her (Allison Jenkins) low, echoing voice that is as hypnotic as a siren's call... Wooden Finger's songs are about loss and longing laced with divine strangeness. A true Southern gothic sound, their music has elements of old folk songs combined with indie rock, and they play music with a fascination for what we can and cannot see." - — Tiger Weekly

"Exploring the Darker Side"

“Southern gothic indie-folk. "If Annie Lennox and Nico were in Low and scoring a David Lynch movie, Wooden Finger would surely be the result" ”
— Catherine Schmidt - Jackson Free Press

"Wooden Finger brings a new Sound"

"This band explores every emotion in its songwriting and its sound that echoes the influences of every musical genre without overwhelming....offers listeners one of the most captivating lead singer voices..."
- — The Daily Reveille

Bio

Wooden Finger is a mass of contradictions in both process and execution. Formed in 2004, the musical marriage of classically trained vocalist Allison Jenkins and self-taught multi instrumentalist Matthew Magee humbly began as a loose collection of basement tapes. Together they began crafting haunting music rooted deeply in traditional folk and classical themes while continuing to explore contemporary structure and instrumentation. The end product of their often cinematic collaboration resulted in 2005's "All This Time....Still We're Lost" a dark and emotional journey rife with themes of Southern Gothicism in the literary vein of Flannery O'Conner.

The band has since expanded in both range and instrumentation, adding journeyman members Ryan Baucum on bass and Chip Burr on drums. The addition continues to lead the band into different sonic territory by retaining the ethereal textures of the duo's previous work while expanding further into stronger rhythmic yet often whimsical soundscapes. The end product is an emotional journey founded in rock n' roll and baroque pop leaving the listener both haunted and enthralled. The band plans to release their new album "Take and See and Do What You Want" in the Summer 2011.
