Lyrics

Old Mexico

Written By: Woody

Sittin in a bar room down in Old Mexico
Trying to write the next song to take out on the road,
Another shot of whiskey and another round of beer,
Another brown eyed girl; whispers in his ear.

She said the devil’s dealing one eyed jacks in a card room down the hall,
Jack’a’Roses up his sleeve and the aces on the wall,
Queen of diamonds sitting by his side,
Dragons on the floor
It’s down that little hall my friend and through that magic door

Well he could make you rich and famous,
He could make you a star,
Give you gold and diamonds and a shiny new Guitar.
All you have to do my friend is beat him at his game,
But don’t you look into his eyes; they’ll drive a man insane.

[Chorus]
Old Mexico, Old Mexico,
Where the wind is hot, the days are slow, and the beer is nice and cold,
Old Mexico, Old Mexico,
Where the wind is hot, the days are slow, and the beer is nice and cold,

So what’s it going to take my friend to get into this game,
Cause all I have is 10 gold dollars and a pistol to my name,
It’s ok my friend she said, he’ll take an IOU,
Just prick your finger; sign in blood, is all you have to do.

So the Cowboy stumbled down the hall and through the magic door,
Sat down at the table, try even up the score,
Well they played all night till sunrise, until the moon went down,
While the devil’s band did play an evil sound.

[Devilish Instrumental Refrain]

The one eyed jacks were running wild at the break of day,
Spirits still a lurking in the shadows where they stay,
The Cowboy won every hand, except the last one,
And the queen of diamonds said, my boy you are the one.

The devil said my friend; well you beat me at my hand,
And how you went and did it, I do not understand,
So take my daughter to your bed and please enjoy the ride,
And we’ll settle up that IOU; on the other side.

[Chorus]

Settin my Soul on Fire

Written By: Woody

Settin my Soul on Fire

If I looked into your eyes, could I see into your mind
If I looked into your heart, would I see the sunshine
Yesterday’s just a memory, a trail of setting suns
But when I look into your eyes, they tell me,
That you’re the one
You’re the one

[Chorus]
Cause your settin my soul on fire,
Awaken my deepest desire,
Settin my soul on fire,
Once again,
Once again

If I fell into your dream, would you ask my just to stay,
If I opened up my heart, would you come with me and play,
Cause tomorrow’s just another memory,
Another trail of setting suns,
So let me look into your eyes, and tell you,
That you’re the One

[Chorus]
Cause your settin my soul on fire
Awaken my deepest desires,
Setting my soul on fire
Awaken my deepest desires
Come and set my soul on fire,
Set my soul on fire,
Set my soul on fire,
Once again,
Once again,
Once again,
Once again

Northbound Train

Written By: Bob (woody) Woodruff

Northbound Train

[Verse1]
Lookin out the window singin to a Dove,
Full moon arising in the stars above,
Lookin for a song, lookin for a song to call my own.
There’s magic dancing in the air,
And the people there don’t have a care,
Goin back goin back home again,

[Chorus]
On a Northbound train,
In a cool dry rain,
On a Northbound train,
That Northbound train,

[Verse 2]
Well I don’t know where this song will go,
And I don’t know where the train will go,
I just know its headed back home again.
With the sweet songs dancin in the air,
And the people there don’t have a care,
Goin back, goin back, home again,

[Chorus]
[Mandolin Lead]
[Chorus]

[Verse 2 again]
[Chorus]
[Mandolin Lead]

[Ending Chorus]
On a Northbound train,
In a cool dry rain,
On a Northbound train,
That Northbound train,
Yes on a Northbound train,
A Northbound train,
A Northbound train,
I’m on a Northbound train.
