Bio
It all started on a cold winter night on top of a snow hill in Winnipeg, when a thirst for music and the inspiration of new friends, and the undeniable need
to beerboggan brought these three together.
They began recording in the frozen winter of 2005 in Anna Binta’s basement and ever since,
have been writing and recording in a meat locker that Tyler transformed into a studio.
They grew up listening to the likes of: J.J Cale, The Staple Singers, Neil Young, The Be Good Tanyas, Bone Thugs & Harmony, The Cardigans, Matt Good’s
“Underdogs”, Fiona Apple, The Smiths, Gillian Welsch, M83, Harry Dacre, A Tribe Called Quest, Etta James, Shell’s “Solid Gold” tapes, The Stones, Duke Ellington, NOFX and NWA.
WTP combine soulful melodies of the past and the down home rhythms of the banjo, hoping to be able to revive even the weakest of all musical heartbeats.
The band’s combination of past and current stylistic influences produces a sound they like to refer to as “indie soulgrass with a pop”.
Wooing The Patters plans for 2008/2009 consist of recording their first EP, enjoying Dim Sum Sundays, hitting the festival circuit, and long walks on the
beach.
