"The Darcy's Rocked the Casbah, without any Clash in sight"

“The night of live music commenced with local act Wooly Mantis, a wonderful rock band who aptly describe their sound as a “psychedelic progressive rock experience.” The mixture of Southern blues/funk/swamp rock grabbed my attention pretty quickly.

With some amazing percussion work from the “Dirty Hippie,” and retro guitar chord progressions, the Wooly Mantis played a handful of songs to a crowd who were clearly very familiar with their material. As their set came to a close, I was intrigued and made a mental note to research these guys a little more. Would love to see them again and devote a little more time to their musical catalog.” - Great Dark Wonder

"Untitled"

Praying Mammoth was written by Vince during a challenging time in his life when he took off the rose-coloured glasses and started seeing the realities of the the world we live in. It's a tribute to a now-forgotten past and a stark look at the current state of affairs.

The intro of Praying Mammoth sets the scene with an emotionally enveloped guitar riff. It makes one instantly believe Wooly Mantis' struggle. As the song progresses, the riffs get more robust because of the distortion. Best part of the song is the 'battle' between guitar and bass. Excellent bass lines which take the song to a higher level instantaneously. - Fortheloveofbands.com

Bio

They say that music is the language of the soul, and nothing could be truer for Wooly Mantis, a progressive Indie Rock Band. Composed of a group of inspirational musicians and skillful performers,  Matt Woodcroft, Daniel Walton, Vincent Berube and Dave Joyner, Wooly Mantis has already earned a reputation as a talented band creating artful and inspiring music.

Daniel, Matt, Vince and Dave have been playing music since they were young and when faced with a career decision, each opted to study music at Mohawk College. It was there that Vince and Daniel started to collaborate as songwriters. The next year they hooked up with their drummer Matt and started to gig as Wooly Mantis. When Dave joined the group a few months later, Wooly Mantis started to gel as a band.

Together they create a signature sound that is Wooly Mantis -- part prog rock, part retro rock, part psychedelic. As they grow, they continue to connect with fans with their distinct, musical style.
