Biography

Words of Purvis are a 4 piece rock band from London England. The members consist of Craig Sciba: Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Simon Opie: Lead Guitar, Greg Opie: Bass Guitar and Francois Rocquemont: Drums. All members of the band sing backing vocals and contribute to the song-writing. In 2008 The Times commented on the band with the following statement: "Take some good honest rock and roll, throw in a Foo Fighter vibe, one dash of surf rock, mix it all up with a dark Razorlight twist, and what you have is an amazing musical cocktail called Words of Purvis" These 4 London based lads take the stage with determination, love what they do, and deliver a solid performance. With catchy vocal hooks and cool riffs, these guys make it fun to be that crazy mad person in the crowd. After all, jumping around and enjoying yourself is what live music is all about! Over the past 3 years Words of Purvis have started to emerge as a dynamic solid addition to the current everchanging music scene. The band benefited from a successful start with the help of well known sponsors and positive press coverage of their live performances. They have performed every year (both support and headlining slots) at the NAC Annual Halloween Scream Charity Bash sponsored by Gibson/Epiphone in aid of the NSPCC & Nordoff-Robbins Music Charity. In 2007 Halloween Scream joined forces with ex music industry mogul Alan Mcgee's (Oasis, Primal Scream) International Club Night Death Disco. This event has also been voted critics choice by the Times as the #1 Halloween event in the UK with Words of Purvis becoming the resident band for the annual event. In late 2010 the band were finalists at the MTV World Stage Maldives Breakout Festival held at the O2 Academy Islington. That same year Words of Purvis released their Metway Sessions EP. The album contained several new tracks and was distributed on www.bandcamp.com as a free preliminary distribution promotion before being released on Itunes. In February 2012 Words of Purvis will return to Metway Studios in Brighton England. A collaborative mix of several recording sessions will be released in 2012.
