"Bohemian Groove Single Review"

Single Review : World Vs World : Bohemian Groove (Death Monkey Records / 2014).

No strangers to this page or our radio show, World Vs World have always had an ear/eye to the political climate and with their latest release, Bohemian Groove, they have surpassed themselves with what we consider their most accomplished and commercial release to date. Using the behind-the-scenes, political movers & shakers as the genesis for this conspiracy theory based commentary on the world today, the boys have delivered a single which immediately catches your breath with it's powerhouse drumming and bassline, held together by some great guitar work and vocals. They have even invested (a good move) in a fantastic video to accompany the release. An imaginative B&W piece filled with mysterious, shadowy men meeting in secret........now that would never happen in this day and age.......surely ? - Michael Kennedy (Welsh Connections www.oystermouthradio.com)

"The Sentinel Paradox Album Review"

Album Review.
Artist : World vs World.
Title : The Sentinel Paradox (2015 / Death Monkey Records)
How does a group move from a good rock band to a great rock band? By releasing an album like 'The Sentinel Paradox', that's how !!
Always a group with a social conscience, on this album WvsW point the listener in the direction of how things can change - nothing has to be this way - we can change things ! Us !!
After a spoken word intro by Lee Camp comes the thundering bassline of 'Bohemian Groove' - the first single to be lifted from the album. The first time I heard this I knew something special was in the air. The boys must have had knowing smiles on their faces when they heard the playbacks. In contrast to their usual style there are two very different cuts on 'The Sentinel Paradox' - 'Pavlovian Dogs' and, the mesmerising, 'The Divine Feminine'. Kirk's vocals are a joy and the piano and strings are a perfect way to end this work of art.
Damian, Kirk and Kristian have delivered the best work of the band.....so far ! In Dave Milsom they have found the perfect foil for their musical vision - his production has lifted the tracks and given the boys the confidence to explore different paths.
The guys at Death Monkey Records must have been running around the office when they heard this one !
BUY IT NOW.............. - Michael Kennedy (Welsh Connections www.oystermouthradio.com)

"The Right Note For Food Help"

YOUNG musicians have used their talents to help raise funds for Swansea Food Bank.

The members of three local bands came up with the idea of using their love of music to help vulnerable and needy local people, by staging a number of gigs in which the entry fee was an item of food, which was then donated to the food bank.

The three bands, World Versus World, Nine Plan Failed and 100,00 Bodybags organised gigs at Crowley's Rock Bar in Swansea and The Mason's Arms Llanelli.

And hundreds of food items totalling over 200kg of food were handed over by the bands.

Kris Davison of World Versus World said: "We were delighted with the response to the gigs, people loved the music, but also were obviously keen to take the opportunity to help out local families worse off than themselves.

"Lots of people told us they thought it was a great idea."

Dave Ward of Swansea Foodbank added: "In our three and a half years of operation we have been able to help some 10,000 people due to kind donations such as by these local lads and music fans.

"The generosity of ordinary members of the public is really heart-warming, and enables us in turn to help all sorts of people of all ages who are in need of assistance in these difficult times."

Food banks can be found at Ty Croeso in Clydach, the City Church on Dyfatty Street, Gorseinon Institute and the Red Cafe in Mumbles. - South Wales Evening Post

"Llanelli Music Scene Launches First Ever Takeover Show At The Mason's Arms"

FOR the very first time Llanelli Music Scene is taking over The Mason's Arms for a night of hard rock.

Unlucky for some, but not for gig-goers, the First Ever Takeover takes place on Friday 13 of this month.

Headlining the bill is Swansea alternative rock band World vs World.

A three piece, World vs World has six years of experience as a band playing in the underground South Wales music scene.

The band's sound smashes together driving rhythms with catchy choruses.

To describe World vs World's sound, it could be said that they have elements of Muse, but with a raw edge.

Grungy

Nirvana's grungy sound creeps in from time to time as well.

Kirk (guitar/vocals), Krist (bass/vocals) and Damian (drums) have two EPs under their belt — Our Own Personal Tabloid and The Six Degrees Of Separation.

And through the years they have built up a fan base stretching around the globe.

Supporting World vs World are Truth Seeking Conspiracy and Helldown.

Carmarthen's Truth Seeking Conspiracy is a female-fronted rock/metal band.

The sound is reminiscent of the early material of fellow Welsh rockers Funeral for a Friend — full of chuggy riffs, twiddly solos, and double kick drum patterns.

Charlotte-Jayne Gilpin's vocals throw something different into the mix — setting Truth Seeking Conspiracy apart from other similar bands.

Opening the night is Swansea-based metal band, Helldown.

This band is heavy, heavy, heavy, and will certainly suit fans of the likes of Pantera and Slayer.

Expect big tempo changes, aggressive vocals and hammering drum fills.

But the four piece is equally comfortable shifting to melodic Metallica-eqsue moments.

Doors open for the gig at 7.30pm, with the music getting under way at 8pm.

And to sweeten the deal, entry is free. - Chad Welch/Llanelli Star

"Local Band Rocks Out For Food Bank Gig"

A South Wales band will host a food bank benefit gig in aid of the less fortunate.

World vs. World will put on the free gig at The Duke, Neath on 5 December at 19.00pm.

They hope that all attendees will bring to the venue at least one non-perishable food item to donate towards the cause.

The food items will then be taken to Neath food bank the following week and will be donated to the more underprivileged residents of the town.

Damian Harris, a member of World vs. World said, “We don’t expect miracles from people, people can only donate what they can and we appreciate anything.

“We’d like to think it will benefit the Neath community in a small way”, he added. - Emily Owen

"In our house, we love you lot! More! More! More!" - Adam Lee, China Drum

World Vs. World has been a name on the South Wales music scene since 2007, and has consisted of the current line-up of founder members, Kirk Bowen (vocals/guitar) and Damian Harris (drums) being joined by Krist Davison (bass/vocals) in late 2009.

After spending many years honing their sound on the road and with the self-released “Our Own Personal Tabloid” (2007) and “The Six Degrees of Separation” (2009) E.P.s, World Vs. World have managed to gain a solid reputation as a live act and also in the studio, and this helped contribute to them catching the eye of independent label, Death Monkey Records, with whom they signed in late 2012.

Musically the band’s influences both differ and unite due to vast musical tastes and backgrounds, and the songs combine haunting vocal melodies woven to intricate but powerful guitars from Kirk, backed up by the solid, flowing basslines and thumping beats of the Krist-Damian rhythm section combination, to create something which sounds both familiar, yet refreshingly different.

Add this to a passionate and energetic live presence and you can see how over the years, World Vs. World have become such a prominent band on the South Wales scene and have gained the respect from fellow musicians, fans, and promoters, alike. It has all also contributed to acquiring a truly worldwide reach with fans in over 30 countries around the world, whilst regularly making the playlists of a number of UK and internet radio stations.

World Vs. World have just released our debut album, The Sentinel Paradox, through Death Monkey Records, and have recruited the services of Adam Lee (China Drum) who has taken on co-managerial/mentorial duties for the band as of March 2015 and became an official Dirtbag Clothing band in July 2015 (www.dirtbagclothing.com)
