"Best Band and album of the Year, Thus Far"

Best Band and album of the Year Thus far

World Beneath World

I had the awesome pleasure of seeing World Beneath World live in New Orleans at the Death & Taxes Festival at The Hanger on April 17th. The line-up for this event was Exhorder, Rigor Mortis, Haarp, World Beneath World and The Devil’s Rain.

To be honest…my plan was to only stay and see my friends band “The Devil’s Rain” because… (1) It was a Sunday (2) I had a lot of shit to do on Monday and (3) I always get too fucked up at metal shows to function the next day (Thanks P.J.) So anyway, after The Devil’s Rain played their set and slayed it as always, I told everyone goodbye, finished my Barenjager and started for the door.

Suddenly I was stopped in my tracks by this sound that I didn’t expect to hear; a bluesy rhythmic sound that brought me to way back in the day of when I first started listening to metal. I thought to myself “I guess I can stay for one more song”. Yeah OK 4 beers and 2 shots later...........

Enough said?

I Don’t Think So…..

The best way to describe World beneath World is Heavy Metal. No…sludge metal. No wait…doom metal. Ok, let’s go with all of the above and none of the above (Just the way we like it). In my opinion, they have a new sound that will soon.........

"World Beneath World - "New CD 'Nein', Set For Immediate Release" - Jam Magazine"

DALLAS, TX - MONDAY, February 21, 2011 -- Picking up where 2010's self-titled EP left off, World Beneath World's nine-song debut full length follow up CD, "Nein", builds on the sonic architecture of it's predecessor and delivers on last year's promise to "take it to the next level".

Expertly produced and engineered by Sterling Winfield (Pantera, DamagePlan, Hell Yeah), "Nein" is truly the sound of the band coming into their own as the sole purveyors of the new sludge sound that bridges the gap between the underground sludge/doom movement and mainstream metal.

Unashamedly drawing upon the past while defiantly pointing the way to the future, World Beneath World have thrown down the gauntlet. From the opening crunch of "Hopeful/Damned", through the majestic centerpiece "Lighthouse" and beyond, "Nein" is a fierce, soul-baring ride through the tormented mind of metal's new rising anti-hero.

"World Beneath World - "Hard & Heavy""

John Bone - Vocals / Razz - Guitars / Ricky - Bass / Webb - Drums

Metal, Doom, Sludge...hollow words that fall far short in describing the apocalyptic bombast that is World Beneath World. The proof is in the listening. With grooves that move the body, melodies that echo in the memory long after the roar in your ears has subsided to a dull hum, and introspective lyrics that speak to the hope and despair that exist within us all, World Beneath World provide the soundtrack to the human condition and our constant search for redemption.

New Release 5 SONG EP
The eponymously titled 5-song EP, recorded alongside David Dickinson at Austin, TX's famous Boiler Room Studios, and mastered in England by Andy Jackson of Pink Floyd fame, is already receiving airplay at home and abroad. KNAC in Los Angeles and KLAQ in El Paso, TX are among the first to be spreading the word over the terrestrial airwaves. But the ever-growing internet radio phenomenon is where the EP has truly caught fire. Jango, Wolfhound Metal Radio in Germany (where the response was "through the roof"), Renegade Radio.net, and most notably Radiolicious.FM. Here the EP quickly amassed well over 50,000 listener minutes and shot to the top of their charts and remained for several weeks to become not only the top metal act on Radiolicious.FM, but the number one act period.

With the combined support of terrestrial and internet radio, and the adrenaline-fueled rush of their live show, WBW is turning on old-school metal fans in all corners of the globe and winning over a new generation of kids who are tuning in to the soul-baring sincerity so painfully absent in most metal today. WBW are on the rise and poised to take it to the next level.
