Guitarists Mark Knight and Mark Tremalgia were both former members of Bang Tango, the funky late 80s glam metal outfit responsible for 1989’s hit single Someone Like You.
It was during their tenure with the band that Knight and Tremalgia found they had musical common ground beyond the finger-popping faux-goth-glam of Bang Tango. In particular, both men had a strong affection for The Allman Brothers. When Knight left Tango, he decided to carry on with a new, southern-fried, blues-oriented jam band.
Given all the guyliner and hoop earrings in Bang Tango, no-one really saw that coming.
The band were called Worry Beads, and Knight finally got the chance to jam, which he rarely did when he was competing with likes of Ratt and Motley Crue for teenage rocker dollars.
Worry Beads gigged around LA, but things didn’t really take off until Knight hooked back up with his old bandmate Tremalgia in 2003. Calling themselves Gravy, and adding a fat Hammond organ to the guitar-heavy mix, the band self-released Bones, an album full of funky, bell-bottomed, ’70s freedom rock jams.
Having found their groove, Gravy once again morphed into Worry Beads, and they haven’t looked back since. Their fourth album, Spittin’ Iron, has just been released, and although it bears little resemblance to anything Knight wrote in Bang Tango, fans of bare-chested 70s boogie will love it.
Part Black Crowes, part Govt. Mule, Spittin’ Iron is jam rock without all the boring bits.

MARK KNIGHT : Lead Vocals'n Guitar
Mark Knight is best known for his guitar work and as the major song writing force behind Bang Tango, who sold over one million records, had 2 Top Ten music videos on MTV, and several world tours. After Bang Tango Mark formed 'Worry Beads', where he worked with Bernard Fowler developing his vocal skills. Mark has shared the stage with many great musicians such as Matt Abts, & Marc Ford. Mark has also worked with the late Nicky Hopkins, one of the most in-demand session guys in history, who contributed to studio work with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jeff Beck, & the Kinks to name a few. In addition, Mark's also put in time with producers Howard Benson, & John Janson.
MARK "T" TREMALGIA : Guitar'n Background Vocals
The Worry Beads seed had actually been planted long ago, when Tremalgia joined Mark Knight in Bang Tango after Kyle Stevens' departure. It was during this time that they discovered they had an undeniable musical chemistry. Mark T's unique and versatile style developed while playing and touring with a vast array of bands such as The Vagabonds, The EverReady Band with Louis Johnson, Dox Haus Mob, & the world famous Chambers Brothers. Now his musical journey has brought him back together with his former band mate to help create the signature sound of Worry Beads.
STEVE WALTERS : Bass'n Background Vocals
Steve Walter was recruited into Worry Beads in early 2007 by Mark Tremalgia after playing in various other bands together. Steve is a respected L.A. session bassist and composer. Sharing album credits with the likes of drumming greats Vinny Colaiuta, Vinny Appice, James Kottak, Matt Luneau, & Chris Slade. Steve is obviously a capable musician in Los Angeles. Most recently, Steve's song writing & bass guitar work has found its way into no less than 5 separate episodes of MTV's "The Hills" & "Newport Harbor", as well as the Playstation game "Moto GP 2007" & numerous films and radio spots.
JON BIGGS : Drums
Jon Biggs started in the mid 80's as a beat boxer. While killing time on the way to grade school, Mr. Biggs would recreate Michael Jackson's Thriller with his mouth. He knew instantly that rhythm and groove was his calling.
After selling his skateboard for a cheap drum set, the rest is history.
23 years later and still obsessed with music, Biggs has been the go to guy for session and live work. Influenced by John Bonham and Ringo Starr, his passion to groove and play for the song was cemented. He is also influenced by old jazz, funk, soul and fusion." Too many drummers to mention", Biggs says " I am influenced by everyone, good or bad. We all have our own interpretation of music. There is so much to be discovered in music. If I remain teachable, everything is going to be ok. "
