"Wheels on the Bus Review"

July 15, 2006
By: Stuart Green

“Well no one could ever accuse Brampton, Ontario-based emo-metal purveyors Wheels on the Bus of rushing things. This is their debut album and they’ve been together since 2001. Yes, they’ve had a couple of stellar EPs, but really the test of a good band is how they do with more than four or five songs at a time. This time out, WOTB deliver ten songs and I’m happy to report they pass the test with flying colours. With the duelling dual guitar harmonics of Iron Maiden fused with the gut-pounding drive of good screamo bands like Sparta and Grade, with a completely un-ironic pop edge, In the Loop is sure to further the band’s cause, which has been steadily building largely on the strength of energetic and amazingly tight live performances.” - Exclaim! Magazine (Canadian Music Monthly)

"Quotes"

“I like to think of them more as Wheels On The AWESOME! Their last CD was great, I took it on tour and listened to it all the time when I was driving. I can’t wait to hear the new one.” - Dallas Green - Alexisonfire

"Qutoes"

“Moneen would like to announce that if you play with Wheels On The Bus, and you’re a wussy band like us, you would look stupid. There is too much crunchy chuggage, and ass-kickingness in their music. But at least we both have hippies in our bands.” - Peter Krpan - Moneen

"Quotes"

“One thing to mention here is that if you ever get the chance to see WHEELS ON THE BUS live do it! They put on a great show and all the songs really come to life with the live performance.” - Paul Shaw - Punkcanada.net

"Quotes"

“When Wheels On The Bus come...they come with the thunder...not to mention they feature one of the best young drummers in all of Canada.” - Barry Taylor - 102.1 The Edge

Bio

Wheels On The Bus are four good friends striving to make honest and sincere music. Forming in 2001 and hailing from Brampton Ontario, which has spawned such acts as Moneen, The End, The Junction, and Bombs Over Providence, Wheels On The Bus continue to impress their loyal fan base and peers with their brand of gut wrenching punk, metal, and rock. With influences that reference such new and old acts as Iron Maiden, Coheed And Cambria, and Thrice, their music has never succumbed to the confines of one genre but has rather allowed them to develop a diverse punk rock sound. Since their inception, they have played over 200 shows, toured Canada, and released two independent EPs. Wheels On The Bus' first independent EP, "796 The # Of The Beast" was released in 2001. It quickly sold out and is now out of print. In 2004 they took the show on the road, touring Canada in support of their second independent release, "Take This Knife...From My Hands". Since then the band has built a reputation in Ontario for having one of the most explosive live shows out there. They have also shared the stage with such acts as Alexisonfire, Moneen, Silverstein, Bigwig, Protest the Hero, The End, Choke, The Fully Down, and Crowned King. August 2, 2005 will see the release of their first full-length album titled "In the Loop" (Cat# SLR005) on Sunday League Records. With heavy and melodic riffs, syncopated drum fills, and unfaltering bass lines that are encompassed by a thoughtful pop sensibility, Wheels On The Bus delivers a classic album with the release of their latest effort. Countless vocal hooks and strong song structures join together to deliver a great blend of punk, metal and pop oriented rock that is sure to please both old and new fans. Proclaimed as a live act that isn't to be missed, Wheels on the Bus will be touring throughout the spring & summer of 2006. With no plans to slow down anytime soon, watch for Wheels On The Bus coming through your area in support of their latest release "In the Loop”.
