Wren

Wren

BandBluesRock

A steady stream of true American blues beneath a fresh blend of classic rock, jazz, and even a touch of swing...the mix that kicks!

Biography

With a 20-year career in film & television, a marriage, divorce and two children under her belt, Wren comes to the music world a seasoned, professional with a life to draw from and a quiet confidence earned from a lot of hard work and reality checks. She's worked as a SAG/AFTRA actor, cable talk show host, voice-over talent, top-level makeup artist to the stars, writer, choreographer and drivetime morning radio d.j.

She left Hollywood to found and operate a non-profit retreat facility in Amish country on a 120-acre wildlife refuge and sanctuary primarily available for women in crisis. Wren's introducing her music to us now as a way to generate funds and other support for the charity.

Wren's music represents her amazingly diverse life experience, empathic nature, and genius songwriting and vocal artistry. In both her recorded and live performances, she lives and breathes the stories that belong to us all, as if touched on for the first time. Her songs are pure passion and emotion. When Wren delivers her message our senses experience the soulful, sexy and sweet influences of Lena Horne, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman and Jewel, and the power and bravado of Melissa Etheridge, Alannis Morrisette and Janis Joplin. Remember the late Eva Cassidy with all that energy and fun? You will when you experience Wren. The percussion infusion and her occasional melodic chanting (Wren is of Cherokee decent) adds an earthy world-beat connection.

Wren's is a timeless, tight, hot and groovin' sound with hook after hook, catching you and reeling you in... but you won't mind, not one bit.

Lyrics

Telephone Me

Written By: Wren Owens

V.1
In the morning
I can touch you
Reach across my bed
You're there
High noon rises
We have met already
Evenin' hits as you stroke my hair
Life, it rips you from my spirit
Takes me far away somewhere

Chorus
TELEPHONE ME, baby
TELEPHONE ME, sweetheart
TELEPHONE ME, lover
TELEPHONE ME, in your sleep
TELEPHONE your wishes
TELEPHONE your thoughts and dreams
TELEPHONE your fantasies
TELEPHONE your need for me

V.2
Drivin' up the PCH
Headin' for a buck to make
Cold wind blows
The west's sunshine away
I feel naked in the shade
There are shivers
Crawling up my spine and
There are ghosts
That know you're there

(Chorus)

V.3.
Cool hotel room
In the city
Lights are winkin right at me
Trying hard
To lure me to their pleasure
All I want is you with me
Crowds are chanting
All they want is more and
All I need is you and me

(Chorus)

Freezing

Written By: Wren Owens

Chorus
-A-
Iced layers of teardrops
On the ground
Cold crystals, they thrive
All around
Blue clouds in the sky
Are the shroud
FREEZING my soul
All this is FREEZING my soul

-B-
Grey fog settles down
Over me
Strong wind circles in
Surrounding me
Sharp hail hits my back
Stinging me and
FREEZING my soul
All this is FREEZING my soul...

V.1
You know
I can't understand
How just one simple man
Could take the sunshine
Right out of me
With just the close of a door
I can't move up off the floor
There's no more light
Warming me
My soul is FREEZING

(Ch.A / Instrumental)

V.2
And as
The snow tumbles down
Building
Stifling white mounds
The only
Light in the sky is the moon
No stars have shown up tonight
To shine on me in this fight
To pull my soul, Daddy, out of this doom
My soul is FREEZING

(Ch. A & B)

Hey, Oh, I Know You

Written By: Wren Owens

Chorus
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
You're just a killer
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
And you're running scared
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
And this ain't no ball game
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
And the world will not forget

V.1
Sun up
You're servin' up the o.j.
Hotcakes
Are burnin' on the grill
You stare
Into your pool of water
Wonder if
You'll ever drown your guilt
Tee up
And look on down the fairway
Choke up
Prepare to take that swing
Just know
Your game will soon be over
Hear it ring
The dead lady sings

Bridge
You could take a shower for ten years and not be clean of all the blood
Or have you even noticed there are stains that still remain from what you've done?
Those that throw you kisses are poor souls without a mind of their own
The few that ever walk with you have thoughts that come straight out of the twiliight zone
You know they're so out of touch

(Chorus/Instrumental)

V.2.
Sups up
Her baby's in the graveyard
Won't take
The stuff you try to dish
You try
To whitewash the memory
But lookin' in her eyes you know what you did
Sun down
There's no one else around
You know
We're never very far
In honest word and thought and deed
We'll see your murderous veins bleed
And bleed, and bleed and bleed
Oh, yeah....
You'll see your dark evil bleed
And bleed, and bleed and bleed
Because

(Bridge)
(Chorus)

Her mama will not forget
Her daddy will not forget
And her baby will not forget
Her sister will not forget
And her brother will not forget
And you will not forget
No
That the world will not forget
HEY,
OH,
I KNOW YOU.....

HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
HEY, OH, I KNOW YOU
