Wren Owens' premier CD, simply titled "Wren" immediately draws you in and gets up close and personal. Armed with some real life experience, Wren opens up lyrically to express some deep emotions with a light and playful touch, putting the listener at ease and ready for the ride of this woman's journey. Vocally dynamic, she delivers her message accompanied by a constant musical groove of funk, rock and jazz, with underlying hints of Latin and Calypso. Stylish and hip, Wren will have you movin' and groovin' to shake you up and let you loose. 11/13/2003 R.Q.

"Melding a variety of genres"

WREN OWENS – WREN: Wren is the self-titled debut release from Wren Owens. Wren has been singing since a young age, later she focused her attention on acting and has appeared in commercials, videos and films. Wren is currently running a spiritual retreat center in western New York State, which allowed her time to record some of the many songs she has penned over the years. Her songs are stories filled with emotions, tales of happiness and lyrics of loneliness, topics that anyone can relate to. Wren's music melds a variety of genres including classic rock, jazz, American blues with hints of both pop and swing. She is joined by four other talented players who provide guitars, bass, drums, keys and production. The finished product is a twelve-track collection with many moods and stylings. Wren has a deep sultry voice and sings her diverse songs with passion. The instrumentation throughout the CD is first rate, as band members have their own musical history to draw from. Wren and the band combine rhythms and melodies to create songs with varied paces and tones. Wren is a great start for this budding musician!

Bio

With a 20-year career in film & television, a marriage, divorce and two children under her belt, Wren comes to the music world a seasoned, professional with a life to draw from and a quiet confidence earned from a lot of hard work and reality checks. She's worked as a SAG/AFTRA actor, cable talk show host, voice-over talent, top-level makeup artist to the stars, writer, choreographer and drivetime morning radio d.j.

She left Hollywood to found and operate a non-profit retreat facility in Amish country on a 120-acre wildlife refuge and sanctuary primarily available for women in crisis. Wren's introducing her music to us now as a way to generate funds and other support for the charity.

Wren's music represents her amazingly diverse life experience, empathic nature, and genius songwriting and vocal artistry. In both her recorded and live performances, she lives and breathes the stories that belong to us all, as if touched on for the first time. Her songs are pure passion and emotion. When Wren delivers her message our senses experience the soulful, sexy and sweet influences of Lena Horne, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapman and Jewel, and the power and bravado of Melissa Etheridge, Alannis Morrisette and Janis Joplin. Remember the late Eva Cassidy with all that energy and fun? You will when you experience Wren. The percussion infusion and her occasional melodic chanting (Wren is of Cherokee decent) adds an earthy world-beat connection.

Wren's is a timeless, tight, hot and groovin' sound with hook after hook, catching you and reeling you in... but you won't mind, not one bit.
