Wrongbird Erickson

A vintage, piano-man spirit collides with fresh lyricism and gripping hooks with whimsical alternative rock. Wrongbird Erickson is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Eric Baker, a character of sorts that sings from the very bottom of his ever-trying heart. The goal for this project, and my style in general, is to mix the old with the new. The new qualities of my music usually manifest themselves as a piano-driven rock, but my old soul can't help but toss in the delta blues, psychedelic, or even sometime vaudeville characteristics I have grown up loving. The reality is that I love making music and the ability to express myself creatively. I focus primarily on playing the hell out of pianos, but also dabble in guitar, ukulele, harmonica, and vocals. My main inspiration for everything musical is the Beatles, but my piano specifically takes an approach that is very Ben Folds. Now take that Ben Folds style keys, churn it up with some blues, and inject the contagious passion of Jack White and my style is something close to that. Wrongbird Erickson is my attempt to give bewilderment a representative, and to create a character solely based on how random life can be. Wrongbird is the songbird that almost was; the reason without a cause.
