"CashBash 2010: Dallas/Austin/Houston, TX"

The W.S. Holland Band took the stage just after midnight and closed the night out with a near two-hour set. They played it all. From Chuck Berry to Carl Perkins, from Elvis Presley to Johnny Cash, the best of Memphis, the lifeblood of Rock and Roll funneled through our ears and bodies from the first man to put the roll of a steam engine to the rattle of a snare drum. Joined by Alan Wheeler on the keys, Jim Reece on the bass, and Ron Haney on guitar and vocals, “Fluke” hit all classics and kept the feet dancing in Emo’s long past the witching hour.

Bio

Recognized world-wide as one of America's true music pioneers, W.S. "Fluke" Holland paved the way for early rock drummers after starting his career with rockabilly legend Carl Perkins and the Perkins Brothers Band at Sun Records in 1954. Countless contemporary drummers have credited Holland as one of their major influences that inspired them to seek a career in the music industry.

In 1960 W.S. Holland went on a two-week tour with Johnny Cash that turned into nearly 40 years as the only drummer Johnny and his Tennessee 3 ever had.

A member of the International Rockabilly Hall of Fame, Holland has logged millions of miles and over five decades in professional music and is going strong today touring with his own band, The W.S. Holland Band.

The W.S. Holland Band (W.S. Holland, drums; Ron Haney, guitar/vocals; Jim Reece, bass/vocals; Alan "Gator" Wheeler, keyboards) pays tribute to the history of Holland's vast career by performing the music of Carl Perkins and the other Sun Records rockers as well as the legendary music of Johnny Cash.

Holland recorded on most of Cash's giant hit records as Johnny insisted his own band back him up on record sessions as well as on the road.

The excitement and raw energy of the artists Sun Records owner, and celebrated producer, Sam Phillips captured with his roster of artists lives on today through the masterful artistry of The W.S. Holland Band. Their versions of the Sun recordings Holland contributed to (Blue Suede Shoes, Matchbox, Honey Don't, Everybody's Tryin' to Be My Baby (Perkins), and the haunting covers of the songs he played on for Cash captivates audiences wherever this talented group of musicians appear.

Playing shows coast-to-coast has allowed The W.S. Holland Band to keep this great music alive and introduce it to new generations of appreciative music fans.
