Bio
Wunderfish is an electronic music artist, producer, remixer, and DJ based in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has been making electronic music and composing original soundtracks since the early 1990s. After attending SXSW 2013, he was inspired to quit his nine-to-five day job as a digital marketing director so he could focus on music full-time and hit the open road. During his extensive travels, he has been collecting unique field recordings and continuing to gain sonic inspiration for his productions. He was recently named one of three winners (out of 500 entries) for Ludovico Einaudi's Night remix competition, which will be released on Decca Records via Spotify and iTunes later this year. Wunderfish is currently working on the soundtrack for the independent film, "How to Spell Revenge," while also finishing his debut album - a three-act sonic stage play, merging the storytelling structure of opera, cinema, and theatre with electronic music. Both productions will be released in late 2017, and will showcase narration of stories and emotion through sound. Wunderfish's first single (a b-side from the album), Ovum is now available on iTunes and Spotify. He also DJs special events, spinning an eclectic mix of original tracks, deep house, 80s synth pop, 90s progressive house, and old school hip hop and funk. These live sets use modern and unique elements, integrating drum machines, samplers, and synthesizers.
When not making music, Wunderfish teaches electronic music production and technology to primary- and middle-school students at Computational Thinkers in Honolulu. He is also a partner at Street Cinema, LLC., an independent film production company, where he is the primary sound designer, soundtrack producer, and marketing director. Wunderfish completed the Ableton Producer Certificate program with honors at the renowned Dubspot NYC electronic music school in 2014, and is an avid vagabonding traveler and transcendental meditator.
