Bio

MaCronix is a reggae band that was started by Robert Stephenson five months ago. The band consists of eight people all from different back grounds and music genres. They play covers all of which are reggae base from various Jamaican artists. They opened for Burning Spear on the 27th of september 2008 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver to a record crowd. They are now in the process of recording their original songs, some you can hear on the music player.

Dorla Bell was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta to Jamaican parents and immediately music had a big influence on her life. As a little girl she was involved in artistic activities. After finishing high school she moved to B.C and began her pursuit in the entertainment industry as an actress. She has performed voice over’s in animation series’ such as the Bratz, Rickey Sprocket and Jibber Jabber as well as other television appearances. She recently become a member of a new Vancouver based reggae band called MaCronix as a vocalist.

Doron Bell Jr was born in Montreal Canada to Jamaican parents. Growing up he excelled in sports, drama and music,. It was on one of his frequent visits as a teenager to his parents’ home town of Falmouth Jamaica that local kids labeled him with the nickname “Jr Farenah". The vocalist Doron is today is surely a result of digesting various artists over the years. Doron has been fortunate to work with numerous artists from Jamaica and the U.S and collaborated with R&B favorite Jon B and dance hall sensation Beenie Man.Currently residing in Vancouver B.C , and one of four vocalists in the up and coming reggae band – MaCronix, Doron Jr is looking forward to blessing listeners with music that inspires positive vibes and culture.

Corry Moriarty has been singing in harmony with her mother and sisters since she was a little girl growing up in Northern Saskatchewan. Reggae music is a great deal different than the Lutheran hymns of her childhood, but the four part harmonies and spiritual messages are deeply rooted in her over the last 15 years, Corry has alternated academic work with international travel. She has travelled, performed and taught in over 10 countries. Her experiences with the East African music scene strengthened her love of reggae and world beat music after working with Tanzanian rap/hip hop artists and performing on stage at the Music Mayday Festival 2006. She is now a part of the Vancouver base Reggae band MaCronix.

Nickeshia Garrick was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and has been dancing and singing since she was six. 15 years later Nickeshia is now in beautiful B.C. She is now a member of a Vancouver-based Reggae band called MaCronix.

Robert Stephenson, born and raised in Kingston Jamaica and have been playing musician for most of his life starting with the ukulele his father taught him to play then on to the guitar. He started playing drums at age 19 in dance bands like the Sonny Bradshaw Seven then went to one of Jamaica’s best resident band the Caribs where he then started to do background vocals then on to lead, He has done recordings with Berres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Leroy Sibbles, Alton Ellis, Ernie Smith, and more. He has Toured with Eek a Mouse, Michael Rose of Black Uhuru, Ernie Smith, Leroy Sibbles, Joe Higgs and the Wailing Souls to name a few, he has shared the stage with Bunny Wailer,Peter Tosh and a host of others,he is now the band leader for the Vancouver Based Reggae band MaCronix.

Based out of Vancouver BC, Matthew Reid is a musician and composer with experience in a wide array of musical genres. Reid began gigging on bass at the age of twelve with local blues musicians. In high school he formed his first band, the funk-rock group, “Earth men”, who became one of the largest drawing bands in the late 90s based out of Victoria, BC. Reid relocated to Nagoya, Japan, Moving back to Canada in 2005 he co-founded “Ten Souljers”, Vancouver’s premier rhythm and blues band, and gained a reputation in the reggae community, joining 8 piece reggae group, “MaCronix”, and performing with numerous artists from Canada, the US and Jamaica. Reid performs regularly as a member of “Ten Souljers” and “MaCronix”, and is also very active as a freelance musician and composer.

Hilary Tanner was born in Vancouver, B.C.
in the late 50’s and studied classical music, at an early age more or less until he started hearing Motown artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye ,the Supremes and the Temptations on a.m. radio and started listening to rock and roll.
A friend him to a Bob Marley concert at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre,back in the late 70’s, at a venue more often associated with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Hilary was taken with the unity, power and dignity of this music.He was able to meet the artist personally backstage and became profoundly affected by reggae music and the Rasta movement.
