"New Music: "Sunstroke" by Wylder"

There’s a D.C.-based folk rock band that you may have heard of called Save the Arcadian. We’re here to tell you: forget about that name and start listening to Wylder. The quartet ultimately decided to change their name after realizing that they would soon face copyright issues. With a new moniker, Wylder released the single “Sunstroke,” the debut song from their forthcoming album that’s also accompanied with a new video.

The single is polished and professional–not a note wasted or an instrument lost. Wylder grasps the sentiment “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” for all at once you can focus on each strand of melody but not lose any energy of the entire ensemble. The intro quickly starts off with the attractive lead vocal before diving into the chorus, where the harmonizing voices provide energizing unity. It’s an upbeat, end-of-summer song–comparable to something you’d hear from The Head and the Heart. They have a jam-packed tour schedule through August, so make sure to check them out. In the meantime, you can get “Sunstroke” for a pay-what-you-want price on Bandcamp. - DC Music Download

"NOVA-based indie folk group Wylder releases new single"

They’re from Fredericksburg and they sure know how to compile a track. Wylder takes all that is good about indie pop and folk and fuses it into a beautiful, symphonic melody. Their brand new single, Sunstroke, would fit perfectly as part of a movie soundtrack where everything turns out all right in the end. Emulating the sound of greats like The Polyphonic Spree, Wylder’s quality stands out as they’ll compete in the Jammin’ Java battle of the bands finals in Vienna on 8/21. Give them a listen and your support when they take the stage at 8pm! -Jonathan Goodwin - Deli Magazine

Bio

Embracing the best elements of both indie-pop and folk, Fredericksburg, VA’s Wylder produces a tapestry in which every hook and melody is interdependent. With instrumentals driven by acoustic guitar, piano, and mandolin, Wylder instills clever violin lines and lush harmonies that resonate behind clear and memorable melodies, similar to artists such as Death Cab For Cutie, Andrew McMahon, and The Shins.

Their debut album Rain and Laura due out April 8, 2016, was recorded over the course of a year with producer Ted Comerford (Jukebox the Ghost), mixed by Bryan Cook (One Republic, The Weepies) and mastered by Brad Blackwood (Maroon 5, Allison Krauss). Through an eclectic mix of stormy orchestral movements and fun, infectious energy, Rain and Laura evokes emotional peaks, where lyrics of love and loss take center stage.

Wylder is an emerging voice in the independent music scene.
