Bio

Wylee Wrathbone was initially created in the summer of 2002 in Louisiana by Chris Baldridge and Jonathan Downing. Staging a series of well received local impromptu performances; the two-piece played an assortment of shows before disbanding to pursue shared interests in the fine arts.

Baldridge and Downing met again while completing their Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees at Florida State University and in the spring of 2006 reformed as Wylee Wrathbone combining talents with a sophisticated and refined vision, exploring the known, the unknown and the enigmatic seeking the simple expression of the complex thought.

For the next six months Baldridge and Downing arduously explored the writing process investigating a variety of working methods only to discover, that each song is unique possessing its own personality and process. After writing a number of songs Baldridge and Downing began rehearsing with Eric Stites, an alumni of the Florida State University Jazz program, who would later join the group to begin work on the self-released EP, Bullet in a Glass Jar.

Written, recorded and mixed by Baldridge and Downing, Bullet in a Glass Jar is a cohesive collection of songs formally arranged in a manner that showcases the unique voice of each individual track. The songs resonate with a particular tension and struggle that at times evokes a spiritual response from the listener. All members of the group exhibit an extreme level of technical ability and originality that translates into a colorful and heavy sound that is the essence of Wylee Wrathbone.

Wylee Wrathbone is currently playing in the southeast, with a new bassist David Zimmer promoting Bullet in a Glass Jar.
