Bio

"Music has always been a driving force in my life.". As a child, LaMorris Brown was always intrigued by the different sounds in music. Citing some of his early influences from genres such as Soul & Funk, Blues, Hip-Hop, Spoken Word, and Rock. "I have to credit my father for a lot of my musical diversity. He use to DJ at the local club, and I would fall asleep to the sound of him mixing different records together. The rest of my musical taste was derived from my childhood years spent in Europe." Being a military brat, LaMorris grew up in Germany, and spent time in numerous other countries. However, in the 7th grade, he moved back to the US, and settled in Clarksville, Tennessee. "Moving back to America was a huge transition for me. The style of dress, way of life, and musical taste was totally different. It was tough to adjust, but eventually I found my niche and settled in just fine." Over the years, LaMorris began to standout as a musical talent at school. You could find him rapping to his classmates during lunch, or after school everyday. "I was always known as being a joker at my school. So when it came to rapping, I always found it easy to entertain groups of people. It got to the point where it became a distraction in class at times." After high school and one year of college, LaMorris decided to join the Air Force. Once he completed his technical training, he was stationed at Travis AFB located in Fairfield, CA. It was there where he met Luis Brigman, and began record music seriously. "I always just saw rapping as something fun to do, but never as something serious. Once we recorded our first song, "Backpackin'", we realized the potential we had. We then went on to call ourselves the "Backpack Kids". Unfortunately, Luis ended up getting sent to Korea, and that ended that project. So I decided to carry on with the music, and to honor Luis put the term "Backpacker" in my stage name." Xavi The Backpacker is now known for his different sound, and soulful beat selection. "In a crowd of 1,000 rappers, I aim to stand out and sound completely different than all 999 of them. I believe that's why my music is received with such high praise."
