Bio

Xcentric the BAND. Better Artists, New Direction.

Xcentric is that urban beat. Xcentric is that catchy hook and harmonious melody, crafted to fill the void that exists in the Australian Music Industry.

Xcentric is a little bit crazy but will bring you to your senses.

Xcentric is the culmination of several years of intensive artist and production development which began back in 2004 with pioneer musician DJ Xcentric who combined with two guitarists in the confines of a small bedroom in North Ryde. Using a minidisc to record vocals, guitar and percussion, these three producers worked hard to develop and diversify their skills. Individually they took on various new skills and aspects of production from mastering and mixing, to building a vocal booth, and learning new instruments. They quickly began crafting the type of beats and sounds never before heard in Australia.

In 2006 Xcentric combined their unique sound with three prolific artists, who pioneered new lyrical styles and creativity to the innovative sounds being produced. What followed was sheer mastery; silky harmonies, distinctive beats and ultimate musical cohesion. But still the formula was not complete and ready for audible consumption.

‘Music is about perfection,’ says producer Dirty D who is responsible for the executive production of Xcentric. ‘The Australian music industry has tried for too long to follow in the foot steps of other countries and their urban music development without being willing to develop our own brand and musical genre,’ he adds.

In late 2007, Xcentric began on their most ambitious plan; to storm into the Australian urban music scene. However, instead of bringing tired samples and one dimensional choruses, they choose to draw upon their ethnic backgrounds to spice their music with a distinctly unique flavour. Inspired by the classical musicians and singers from a variety of cultures in the United States, the Sub-Continent and Australasia, Xcentric incorporated tradition with more modern urban influences such as Timbaland, Scott Storch & Bangladesh. This was reflected heavily in their melodic patterns and syncopated rhythms. In effect, what they had created was the genre of ‘hip pop, ’ a newer, smoother, more integrated musical nuance which relied more heavily on rhythm and melody backed by strong vocal ideas.

Undoubtedly, this was Xcentric’s present to the Australian urban music industry and will remain their legacy as they continue to innovate and develop the Xcentric sound.
