Bio
For more than 10 years, DC's own X-FACTOR has performed their brand of classic funk soul and r&b; throughout the mid-Atlantic region. With their first gig out of the basement, X-FACTOR opened the Maryland Music Festival sharing the stage with world renown recording artists The Mary Jane Girls, Switch, Heatwave, Slave, The Brothers Johnson and WAR. X-FACTOR rocked the house and left the stage to a rousing, standing ovation.
This set the pace for the band as they began gigging, developing a following and scoring the occasional opening spot for nationally and internationally known acts in major venues.
Backed by a five-piece rhythm section, led by bandleader Anthony 'DaBassman' Rucker on bass, and David 'Eckie' Mullins on drums along with co-founder Don Theo on lead guitar/synth and Auturo Evans on keyboards, X-FACTOR produce a wall of sound that is larger than their numbers. Add the powerhouse lead vocals of Duane 'The Bishop' Nelson and you have a supergroup capable of commanding the stage at any event or venue.
With a repertoire that includes original material and covers of some of the most memorable classic funk, soul and r&b; hits of the 70s and early 80s, X-FACTOR knows how to get a party started and keep it lit all night. Whether working you into a sweaty frenzy or seducing you with the stacked harmonies of your favorite ballad, X-FACTOR sets the atmosphere for a night to remember, long after the last dance.
Along with their nightclub/party set, X-FACTOR also produces a tribute show called, X-FACTOR'S FUNK XPLOSION, A Tribute to the World's Greatest Funk Bands.
Instead of the usual tribute to one band or artist, X-FACTOR has created an homage to the genre of funk music. Incorporating costumes, lighting and iconic props X-FACTOR puts their twist on some the favorite party grooves of the 70s and early 80s. It's an over the top sensory experience, having fun with music and imagery of legendary artists like Rufus and Chaka Khan, ParliamentFunkadelic, Cameo, Kool and the Gang, Mother's Finest and Bootsy's Rubber Band to name a few.
By paying tribute to the genre instead of one band, it allows the show to evolve and change highlighted artists so the show doesn't become stale, playing the same songs night after night.
